Discuss a memorable moment relating to RPGM.
With the RPGMM Awards system revived, many of us have looked back
into the past...tried to relive what we felt when we first played
those old classics. Some of us are "old," and can remember the day
that Remote Control was released...an instant classic. Others, new
to the RPG Maker scene, only recently had our first experience
with newfangled titles like STLF.
For this issue, we decided to discuss some of those special
events in our RPG Making lives.

I remember when I first started the Mag, I was writing reviews
and trying to come up with something special for the visitors
to my site to spark interest. Fortunately for me, some RPG Maker
guy callin' himself "Dave Carter" happened to create a little
something called Fu-Fu The Acid Trip Bunny and released it to
the RPG Maker community around then. I decided to play it,
and I was absolutely floored by it (and so was everyone else).
So, after playing through the game, I said to myself "man, I
wish I had some type of guide for this thing", and from there
decided to make RPG Maker Magazine's first strategy guide.
I was surprised the guide took so long, since the game itself
was only three worlds. But I finished it. Then, all of a sudden,
I got an email from none other than Dave himself! He told me
that he read the guide and thanked me for writing it. To be
emailed and thanked for my hard work really made me feel good.
I, of course, continued the site and here it stands today.

My favorite memory relating to RPG Maker is something I
haven't even told Ixzion. Back when Ix (RPG2284 at the
time) was hiring reviewers for the mag, I was the only
person to apply. Therefore, I was the only person to
recieve a reviewing position. Ix and I have talked about
that countless times...however--what Ix does not know, is
that I did not have, nor had I ever used RPG Maker. EVER.
I did however, get RPG Maker and figure it out before doing
any official reviews. Don't get worried about the accuracy
of Mag reviews!

I'm actually drawing a blank. Sure games like Fufu, Remote
Control, and anything by Vonwert are memorable but...
nothing compares to my memories of visiting BOTH RPG
Maker communities. Playing all the games from the
selection at the Pavilion... trying to make my own
site... my own game... and then eventually working
with the games has been most memorable.

Well, there never was "one" moment, but many. The journey
all started when the love-child "Remote Control" was born.
It seemed like a porn game when I first played it, despite
the lack of porn in it. I told myself, "It's just a
communist plot, Sea Biscuit!" However, my thoughts could
no longer hold and I had relations with Remote Control.
We had it going on for quite a while, me and RC, but in
the end, it split with me and took all my hard earned
money. Despite it being only $30, it meant the world to
me. I was going to sell it on e-bay for $100. Well, I will
forever rue the day that I signed that freakin' pre-nuptial
agreement. I should never have had relations with it.
But, it's now of little consequence. I then drifted off to
the the lands of Police State. Freakin' hoodlums and goths.
Makes me wonder why I even went after that skank. But it
had a certain flare, you see, and I couldn't pass it up.
We had a love child that was murdered because it was a
crappy piece of work. I was framed and blamed for it's
death, thus, Police State split with me, too. Sorrow just
fills my soul every day I look back at RPG Maker.

Well, playing my first demo for RPG Maker 2, Crown of
Order, was really good. It took me by suprise how the
introduction was done. Even though it was a demo, I still
love the feel of that game.

Finishing Jester's Hunt. I stayed up until 4 in the morning
to finish it. After promising so many games, cancelling and
restarting Slayers' Reign so many times, etc., I finally
completed my first game. And released it with several
major (and at least one fatal) bugs. I think I'm due to
end my current promising-so-many-games-and-cancelling-
and-restarting-Slayers'-Reign streak.
But hey, before that, there was when I first got RPGM1
brand new for $40. I had previous experience with RM2K,
and figured that this would be better, especially when
looking at one of the screenshots on the back and thinking
how much better it looked. Then I got home, found out
that the screenshot was merely one of several sample
maps that could not be duplicated, there were less
songs, I could not move more than one character at the
same time, and worst of all, there were no variables.
Still was a blast to use. Shame that the Demo feature in
Anime Maker was never of any use, though.
