Overview:
From Robbotron Studios and the mind of bigfoot721 comes and action RPG unlike any other. Josaigdan and the Arcane is the newest game to come from bigfoot721.

I took the time to catch up with bigfoot721 and asked him about this exciting and visually stunning title.

Developer Interview: bigfoot721

Kumo Shinagi: First question, what version of Nash's CBS are you using?

Bigfoot: Haha! None, its one made by me and Doyleman.

KS: Ah, really? That's cool, I always love RPGM2 Action CBS games. They're very technical, but fun. So, tell me about the main character, Josaigdan. From what I got of opening cinematics, he's a slave. But, there's something to set him apart, what is it exactly?

BF: The fact that he was raised by his mother for the first few years of his life. So unlike most slaves in the game, he has somewhat of a sense of compassion.

KS: Ah, I see. Kinda reminds me of Spartacus sort of, intresting. Let's talk about the Battle System a bit, what features will be implemented in this title?

BF: As in the demo, the game has a combo system, similar to that of PSO where if you time your buttons right, you can get off a 3 hit combo, but outside of that, nothing too complicating. I don't want to burden the player of remembering every little control setup to use one attack, item, etc. I want poeple that have a hard time playing action battle systems to have an easy time with this one.

KS: From what I've played, the CBS seems to be in working order. Enemies attacked when they should and they have pretty anaimations for them. Which brings me to my next question, well more of a comment than anything, the visuals are truly astounding, top notch for RPG Maker 2. I remember your previous game, Hippy Hunt 2, and the amazing visuals presented in that, so in this one you did not dissapoint. From the credits all the way down to the lava flow in the environments.

BF: Well, with Hippy Hunt 2, I used the VFX in that title as more of a "Hey, look what I can do with this thing." But with Josaigdan and the Arcane, I used the VFX only to help make a beautiful and rich atmosphere. Just wait until you see some little effects I have, such as built up steam burting out from cracks in the ground, the next step in VFX bosses. I am using the best of my ability with this thing, and I can't wait until I finish it so everyone can see it.

KS: Oh me neither, from what this looks like, this seems to be a great title in the making. For my next question, what will the game's flow be like? Will it be the standard World Map, roam from town to town sort of thing?

BF: I'd say more along the lines of a 3D Castlevania, since most of the game is based underground, the overall goal is to escape with the Arcane, but the don't expect the entire setting to be lava, once you get closer the surface, you can expect the setting to change a bit. So I would say the flow is a mix of action adventure, and puzzle solving.

KS: Wow, that's really awesome. It sure is a break from that tired old formula. *chuckle* And speaking of the Arcane, what is it exactly if you can say?

BF: The Arcane is a angelic female with wings that were only known in myths. After a series of tragic events, Josaigdan manages to escape his sector and stumbles across one imprisoned. He then desides to help her out, since having wings and being imprisoned underground is no way to live. She will actually help you increase your overall progress throughout the game.

KS: Ah, I see. Well, from what we've discussed, your project seems to be a very solid and well formed game. Just what I'd expect from a RPGM2 of your caliber. So, other than the CBS and Doan's CCS (Custom Camera System), are there any other features being implemented at this time?

BF: Well, there is a Custom Menu System where you will be able to equip items, save your data, plus it will be fun to look at as well. I also included a jumping system, where if you run towards a gap you will jump it. Also some cinimatics will be played out in context sensitive manner, similar to that of Resident Evil 4, and depending on your success or failure of pressing the button within the alotted time, may change the overall outcome of the cinematic.

KS: Ooh! Nice, very nice indeed! Well, I thank you for the opportunity of previewing your game, Bigfoot. At this time, do you have an estimated release for the game?

BF: No promises, but I hope to release it by the end of the year. And thank you, it was a pleasure doing this interview with you.

KS: Likewise. I'll be looking forward to a final release of this in the future.

Previewer Impressions: Josaigdan and the Arcane

I had the chance to preview Bigfoot's game myself. From the beginning of the game's opening cinematic, you'll be pulled into a world in which slaves are bred and their powers are limited. The game utilizes Doan the Nado's CCS (Custom Camera System) and a CBS created by Bigfoot and Doyleman. It also has a CMS (Custom Menu System) that has many features and options, such as widescreen format and inventory.

The build of the game I receive was kinda buggy, but, it was mainly the menu. Fighting enemies was easy. This CBS was well programmed. The beginning puzzle was a little vague to say the least and stumped me really bad.

Even with those things said, the game is a sight to look at. If you've played Hippy Hunt 2, you'll notice Bigfoot's signature VFX mastery at work. From this early build, I can tell this one will become a premere title that everyone will want to play. Look for Josaigdan and the Arcane around late/Q4 2006.
