Everyone who's has gotten to know RPG Maker has usually botched a game or two. That's not saying anything more than experience. And we can see from Dragon's Edge that this never to be released game is just a stepping stone for something much greater. And the simple fact that this game was never completed shows that the developer is striving for something greater.
I will take a moment to speak with Myoky and see just what he plans to do in the near/far future.
Lantis: Thanks for taking time with me out of your day to talk about Dragon's Edge. I guess the first question would be, what reasons did you never complete the game?
Myoky: Making the game wasn't fun for me. I was told that I should enjoy making the game and it came to me being bored by the results.
Lantis: Fair enough. Was Dragon's Edge a learning experience, if nothing else?
Myoky: Yes, I think I learned a lot of things from it. What not to do, how to do new things in future games, ect.
Lantis: Indeed, good to hear. I guess about the only question I have left is to ask you what kind of impact do you think that
Dragon Edge will have on your next title, "Endless Saga"?
Myoky: I don't think it will have a very large impact as making this new game is a whole new experience. I'm enjoying the
story and what's going on as apposed to Dragon's Edge.
Lantis: Great. Well, that about covers my questions... unless there is anything else you'd like to add.
Myoky: No.
Lantis: Okay then. Thank you for your time.
Dragon's Edge was extremely short. Not to say it wasn't good. The fact is, it wasn't all that bad. There was a good use of the terrain as most places were nicely placed and proportional. The edging ended rather abruptly at places, but not bad enough to draw too much attention. Also, the coding was clean. Every event, switch, and page was managed greatly. There was but one issue the entire time which can be easily overlooked.
The storyline was interesting as you start off, you are a young child and go off to see a cave with a friend. Only to wake up in bed... several years older. From here you start doing some grunt work for the King. Past this I can't go much farther because the battle was a little uneven. Even with healing items found in the castle surviving more than two fights was almost impossible. And you never made enough in a fight to stay at the inn to heal up.
But as stated, this botched game was only a stepping stone to something far greater. I will be looking forward to playing his next game: Endless Saga whenever it will be released.
