Well, another year has closed since we last saw each other, and it's
been nearly a year since we last had an issue. As you may have noticed,
the format of this editorial is quite different from the way we've usually
done it. That is because the near-entirety of the RPG Maker Magazine staff has
been let go. In essence, this move was made to give the Mag a reboot. We have
trimmed down a lot of the excess which made the site difficult to find what
you wanted and everything is now streamlined. The Mag has a focused purpose:
to bring a constant stream of new RPGMM content (be it articles, p/reviews,
etc) to you. As a part of this pact, I have made a personal vow to create
at least 1 new piece of content each month for the rest of the year. I hope
you enjoy it.
With the dropping of the staff, currently in the wheels is the new Contributor
system, wherein anyone who wishes to add content to the site has the opportunity
to request being a Contributor. Through the system, you will have your work
peer-reviewed by other Contributors and once people agree with your work
going up, you can put it up on your own for the world to see.
This is a portion of the overall work going into the Mag that I have
coined RPG Maker Magazine v5.5. It's an expansion of the functions and
activities that can be done with the site. Parts of this iniative are currently
available on the site. The most important of these so far is the Siteside Account
(SSA). For a time, this was just something necessary to upload your games. Now,
it's a lot more than that. With a SSA, you are now able to create an on-site
profile (which is customizable), which will catalog all activities you've done
with the site, including all of the games you've uploaded and any articles. Using
the new Userlist, you can quickly find out almost anything you've wanted to know
about the users you've interested in.
Along with the SSA, other parts of the 5.5 program include the Data Center
revamp, individual game pages for games (where users with SSAs can add comments),
Top Lists (where you can find nifty info about all games on RPGMM, including the
most downloaded games). More stuff will be coming to the Mag soon.
Hoping off that and into the issue. This issue's main feature is RPG Tsukuru 4,
the Japanese RPG Maker that we never got. After Valkysas' article showing off
the RPG Maker we never got in North America, a ton of interest has sprung up
in this game from a lot of people, including RPGMM staff. Therefore, we've decided
to run with Valk's start and expand upon the expose of this game. A word of warning,
though, is that this article doesn't mean that this game is coming out here. Instead,
we are using this article as a loud microphone to the people in power that we DO
want this game!
Well, that's all for now. Keep checking the Mag for more updates.
