Among the clutter of famous RPGMaker games, one that stands out among the pack is Pinoy0004's Forever's End. Once heralded as one of the best games made for RPGM, does it stand against the test of time?

As more projects were released, and games that innovated the medium were made, does Forever's End still measure up?

In a game that is not far removed from Squaresoft, Pinoy offers a surprisingly interesting game with too many cliches and flaws to keep it on top of the competition. Far too many plot twists have been seen before, and far too many names have been reused from Squaresoft's game (now known as Square-Enix). However, Forever's End showcases a few creative ideas that keep it from being just another RPGMaker game.

The graphics are a step above amateurish, but not by much. The story was interesting, but poorly executed. However, I liked the thought of each character being a different aspect of a person's life and emotions. One character was the voice of pride, another the voice of fate, another the voice of reason, etc.Bland graphics abound, thanks to poorly constructed cities and a lack of custom sprites. Pinoy0004 has made a noteworthy game, but he shows how inexperienced he was with the medium in this creation.

There is not much of anything to gloat about in terms of features.Lack of anything but typical RPGM fare throws down this category into the pits. Not the worst I've seen, but not good either.

Many glitches riddle the game, however none that I have encountered have disabled me from continuing the story.A few big glitches stand out. For example, many events can be repeated endless times by returning to the same areas. Another noticible flaw is that many events seem to let you free roam, meaning the player has to move the character to continue what should have been one continuous event. There are even a few instances where Pinoy forgot to add a character model to NPCs.

Despite the flaws, the game has some enjoyment to be shared. However, many times the game is too easy and battles are nothing more than a nuisance. That is, until boss fights come around, and then they are either too easy or too hard.Poorly balanced gameplay hinders the fun. A non-existent story doesn't help either.

Whether it be the amateurish presence of the game, or the elite work of other RPGMaker projects, Forever's End does not stand up anymore. I have not yet touched the special edition of Forever's End, so perhaps I have yet to play the better version. Low score or not, Forever's End is a landmark in the history of the RPGMaker community, and it is anything but forgettable.
