I just got this game and it is friggin awesome to hear that music again. I haven't had any time to really get into it yet, but I will let you know what I think later through the wonderful power of EDIT BUTTON.

OH and I did manage to get the Shinra UMD case. Its more cheaply made than I expected... O well.

Behold: EDIT::

It is definitely an action rpg that you can get away with hitting one button the whole game. But there is a bit of depth to the action oriented battle including limits and materia. While not the same as last time, it works well non the less.

The graphics are amazing! Its straight from advent children in every way.

Zack is a bit... um... goofier than I expected. Not too goofy mind you. But then again we never did get a fair chance to get to know him until now.

Oh and for those who didn't know, this is a prequel with Zack taking the lead.

By all means, DISCUSS :D

Yeah, I've been youtubing some vids... all the sound effects for the menus and such match that of 7.

That, my friend, is the sound of nostalgia.

Still been too busy to play this, or anything else for that matter.
But since my 8 month toy poodle is getting spayed today, I will be sitting at home to watch her. Don't want any opened stitches...

In short, Crisis Core will be played this weekend! I must say I can't wait to tackle this game in full and then replay FF7 on my newly modded PSP :bragzorz

(I will also take on Rincar, and I will download Jester's Hunt.)

I have, besides me, Final Fantasy Crisis Core... but alas, I can not play it. I promised my significant other that she could run off with the PSP after it came out... So after she brings it back, I will be devling farther into it.

Sheesh! And a year ago you gave me a hard time about being whipped for asking my live-in gf if we should buy a Wii. I would like to be a big man and let it go but... WHOOPA!

Just messin man. Its actually cool your gf wants to play a FF game. Mine is more into Halo and Burnout and hates rpg's.

Anyway I played Crisis Core some more. It took me like ten battles but I finally figured out the "slot machine" that runs during battle. I won't attempt to explain it without the game infront of me, however.

I will say it is the ONLY way to level up your character and your materia. So there truly is no experience system in that sense. Annoying at first but I got over it.

I really like the Missions. At any save point, you enter the menu and there is a new option for selecting missions which are unlocked as you meet preset criteria. Right now I have 4% of the missions complete.

I believe there are about 300. I purchased the strategy guide for that reason. But I won't use it until my second time through the game. Which I am told is less than 20 hours. If that means 20 for the core mission or 20 hours for 100% completion I do not know.

No no... you are right. I'm in a slightly hypocritical situation here. =P

Anyway, I look forward to getting my hands on it.

Well I am at 12 hours in. This is usually the point at which I get bored and never finish the game.

Not this time. I absolutely love playing this game. Don't get me wrong, I am the first to admit there are a few issues with the game and some expectations were indeed not met, but the fun is there.

A really cool feature is Materia Fusion. I just got to the point where I can pinally use this new option. The premis is take two materia and fuse them into one. Two like types will result in a like type with stronger abilities. For instance if you take a 'Fire' materia and fuse it with another 'Fire' materia the result may be 'Fira' which is just a more powerful version of the same spell. However if you take 'Blizard' and fuse it with 'Fire' (yes the order matters) the result is 'Thunder' materia.

Fusion is the only way to get some materia, at least that seems the case at this point in the game.

Please people, don't let your "OMG its not as good as FF7" mentalities keep you from enjoying a fun PSP experience. At least check it out for the great vids and summon sequences.

Okay, uber old bump... but I've finally got a hold of CC and have gotten a good ways in. So I thought I'd tell you my thoughts.

And this game would automatically be one of the best games I've ever played. I mean really. The story is great, the sound effects and materia brought back is just wonderful. They had to tweak the way materia worked in this game because there's only one character and it's an active time battle, but they did an EXCELENT job of it. I really notice that I'm really having fun with this game. The graphics are just breath-taking for a hand held, and getting all the extra information about the world of Final Fantasy VII makes this game a must have.

That said... I do have one problem. Though it's kind of a big problem:

In any Final Fantasy, I've always hated one aspect. RPGs are about planning and thought. Customizing and strategy. And there is one function in alot of Final Fantasy's that goes aginst this principle. Slots. It's completely random. And I hate that aspect. FF6 - Setzer's slots, FF7- Tifa's limit breaks and Cait Sith's too. FF Tactics even had some random attacking spells in jobclasses that made it pretty worthless. And there is such in other Final Fantasy games. I just can't accept the fact that in a game were strategic planning is key to have something as random as slots in it.

Sadly, that's what Crisis Core basses everything off of... and it cripples the game.

Half of everything in the game is f*cking random. Your limit breaks? Random. The summons you can use? Random. Even leveling the f*ck up... RANDOM.

Also, the slots give you random abilites in battle like No MP cost... no AP cost... Null Damage,Null magic damage, invincible... some broken ass sh*t.
No MP Cost and you can spam cure till you are at max and run to the end of the battle area and just blast away. It's a very broken feature.

The slots have many funcitons, in battle they will always scroll and stop and you can't control it. It'll display people's pictures and numbers. The numbers and pictures don't associate with each other. If numbers match, you'll get one of those broken free MP or AP buffs. If the heads match, you'll use a limit break. But when two of them line up the battle pauses and the slots take up the entire screen. The way you level up is if you get three 7's but I THINK that your chances to get three 7's increases over time. But still, that's really gay.

Oh, and summons: I got my first summon materia... Ifrit. I was like, "SCORE!" I went to my materia to equip it and it wasn't there. It wasn't anywere... It's a f*cking head on the slots and to use it, you have to get all three heads to line up!

Since then, I've gotten ifrit, bahamut, and odin. And guess how many times I've used a summons in my many hours of playing.

...none

not once.

This random slot thing that is the core of this game has really ruined what could have been an extremely great game. Don't get me wrong, I like it... alot. But it could have been 200% better if only they didn't base it off of such random ass sh*t.
