ive been tossing several ideas around on my improvement to the castlevania mini game which i found to be stale. i decided on three additions: one, made better use of the spacious environment; two, added a much needed boost to the fun of the last boss; and the three, i gave the game the true feel it needed (medusa head shaft of shame).

the others where easy to add (though easy isnt a word i use to describe the most complex mini game ive ever made, using around 200 switches in combination to make the side scroller work). where i was having problems was of course the medusa head level. i was originally going to make it a live play style (not real live, since that isnt possible with the system limits), where youd control the character yourself rather then use a specially designed control to move an event character. shortly into creation i found that it would cost a stupid amount of memory which i didnt have.

after several very innovative solutions that didnt quite work, i settled for a low budget fix that will get the job done at a much more reasonable level. you now use the same control system to move an event, but the game keeps tract of where the medusa heads are on the screen, keeps tract of where your event character is, and knocks you to the bottom of the screen if you touch a head (which is determined by medusa placement and event char placement in the same square). switches really are king of the universe. i also found out that if no conditions are set (or met other then no condition), the event will activate the first page only, ignoring any other page that has no conditions set (conditions activate from last to first, but only the first page will start if no conditions are met or if all the pages have no conditions set)

have you ever had one of those moments where you just sit back, impressed at your own ability? i cant believe i am acually able to think up solutions that are this complex, id never of been able to achieve this kind of sucess 2 years ago when i last started working on it. its a good self motivator, too bad i dont have as much time to devote to this as i had. i really need to finish this 2nd card so i can release the demo.
