In my Series 2 Redux thread (which, as of my last post today, turned into a "studio update" post), I mention wanting to get back into RPGM again after a nearly year-long hiatus. Because I have 2 main games ideas I've already begun work on (one of which I've not posted about), I want to release at least oneof them in "fiscal" 2008. However, to immediately climb back on a horse of that size and scope might be a bit daunting. Therefore, I've decided to take Bo's advice, and work on something "small" to get myself re-acclimated to working on games again before I undertake the massive effort that will be involved in working on the other two.

When I say "small," I do not mean small as in "simple." I mean small as in, it will be a fairly short game, albeit one needing a goodly amount of complex coding on my part. If you've kept up with my exchange with Bo in the "posting for no reason" thread, you'll remember that a small game equalling a simple game for me is just not something I'm interested in making at this point. I feel the need to challenge myself with the software, or I would derive no enjoyment out of making games with it.

That being said, my plan for right now is to work on a "puzzle" game unlike anything currently released for RPGM3. In fact, it's more in lines of the "puzzles" I made with my Episode 1 teaser, but actually completely different. Meaning, the puzzles will not be like those in Whispers in the Woods or in A Series Aside. They will have more to do with characters, abilities, and trial and error/logical thinking.

I'm not going to give too much away, as I want the entire experience to be fresh upon being played for the first time. All I WILL say is that it will include a semi-homage to Portal. So speculate if you must, and ask questions if you will, but I cannot guarantee I will be able to give sufficient answers at this time. In any case, the saddle is already on the horse; it's just waiting for me to mount it. :)

Seriously, for some TOTALLY WEIRD reason, I read the topic title as "Attempting the break the back of a horse"
I too wish you good luck.

For some reason, I saw the topic title as, "Attempting to get back on the hose." :blush

Lord knows, it's hard to get back on the horse after falling off. And breaking it's back.
