Because they are comfortable and the host of said toe might not care about what other people think?

And to your question: No, I haven't really ever worried about it. There's really not enough nail for it to become crooked anyway.

I used to bite my nails all the time.

I've got them under control now.

The only time they're short is when I break them, usually washing dishes.
