After a full year of running the contest, the results are below:

1st Place: No One
2nd Place: No One
3rd Place: No One

Yes, that's right. After all this time, no one finished a game for the contest. Not even a short game. This is disappointing, especially after we have 5-6 people mention that they were working on games for this.

I even said that even if one game was turned in, that would be the winner. Yet my email box stood empty today.

It will be quite a while before the Mag runs another contest.

I was so close. I could have won this big time.

I made the ending and everything.

Gah...

I feel so stupid.

15 hours wasted

That is some really sad results. I remember I wanted to join this contest when I first joined the pav, but was told not to because it had already begun a few months earlier. Since then I made one game up to 50% saved over it, got back to 40ish%, started a new game, got around 50% again and it went corrupt, and now I'm at like 115% I should have, and could have entered.

I think the reason it didn't do so well is because how big of a game people would be making. I think focusing on smaller aspects of the makers would attract more people. Also no 1 YEAR deadline.

It's been stated that you could make a short game throughout this contest.

I made my first game in 10 months and it has 10 hours of gameplay.

But yeah, there won't be any more long contests.

Am I the only person who finds this completely hilarious?

I don't think so. I find I think it's sad with a touch of hilarity. Or was it the other way around?

complete fail. i kind of knew that something like this would happen, especially considering all the extensions that where given. cap the time and keep it that way with one week grace at best, or use late 10% off a day style marking.

not even one applicant seems like a fitting end to this long run contest.

If I had known this, I would have turned in my game. It was not complete, but one scene going to blackness would've won it.

I like contests, but next time I'll enter when it STARTS, not a 8 months after. :lol

Worst of it is, I had so many great ideas for it. Sad that it won't be finished now. Even had a custom title screen too. :cry

This kind of reminds me like FWA. Remember playing Magic the Gathering on those huge tables? And what's the one thing everyone said...

"I should have brought my cards"

The only difference between this scenario and that is that at FWA they had no clue we'd be playing, where as here it was announced for a year running.

See what happens when you depend on people to do something? Besides, there were too many people putting sh*t off. All I had seen was excuses for not getting a game done and all this "I'll make one! I swear." No one can give me sh*t because I never committed to making a game for the contest. But I actually find this funny.

This is a good exercise to remind people how it is not always easy to make a deadline. It is good training. A learning experience. I probably expected this for at least one RPGM but not all 3.

So my question is now that no one wins the contest or gets the prizes, can we still submit a sequel on the contest games and have it evaluated by the contest criteria just to see what others think?

My guess would be yes but interest has dwindled for the shame of it.

Individual permission must be obtained for anyone else's game. Their permission was for the contest only. For my game, it is allowed.

As for having it judged, I'm not going to do it. If someone does my game, I will respond to them personally, but I'm not giving contest-style feedback because the contest is over.

I guess people can't get credit for handing in a half made game?

At least then we can judge the effort. :/

Exactly what kind of credit would they be getting? I don't follow.

Uh, I mean that.. well, not that anyone would win a prize being that the contest was for that reason. But if no one decides to finish the game then, we can just see who "might have one."

Better something then nothing I think.

But the contest is over. What's better than nothing is if the people who were going to participate go ahead and put it up anyway.

It may not be for a contest... but what does it matter? That's not why you make games, right? As long as the permissions are okay'd from the original creator, put them up.

I've already finished my Sequel. I think I wasted time trying to add in two unlockables. Which is why I couldn't submit my entry.

But, MEH! ya know?
