Exactly what to you consider yourself as a gamer. There are several ways to look at it, when you sit down and look.

There's console gamers, Handheld gamers, and PC gamers. But then there's always genre. Seeing as this is RPG Maker Magazine, I can assume RPGs is a common denominator.

For me, I'm more of a console gamer. I do play quite a bit of PC games too... but I just don't like PC titles as much as I do console. I haven't had a handheld since Gameboy, but that's about to change as I'm getting a hold of a PSP before too long.

As for which console specifically, I tend to lean towards Sony. I do note the nintendo roots that probably course through the veins of all gamers... but since the PS1, I've really borded with Sony. I do, however like the Wii. It's... interesting to say the least. However, I'm really not much of an Xbox fan. Blue Dragon is honestly the ONLY title I want to play... and one title doesn't justify bying a entire console.

As for genre... RPGs, which should be a given. I play more turn based RPGs than anything else, but really love strat RPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics and all the Nippon Ichi titles. Outside of them though, I'm a fan of a select few hack and slash titles like God of War or Devil May Cry. And even fewer racing titles actually catch my attention, most of which are Burnout titles. However, I am a pretty big First Person Shooter fan. Which pretty much started with Goldeneye for the 64. But before I played RPGs, I was intoi platformers. Sonic being the head of the pack in that genre. Classics like them. Remember Earthworm Jim? Love those games. lately though, I've been getting into rythmic games. It pretty much started with Stepmania... and evolved into diving head-long into Rock Band.

What I don't like in games is pretty much anything that can be lumped into the simulation genre. The Sims, Sim City, all those games just bore the ever loving hell out of me. And the most I hear people say is "I like decorating" or "I like to try and kill the people" ect. I also can't stand the hype for all the sports games out there. If you've played one Madden title, you've played them all. I usually don't like games who's main goal is "get more poitns than someone else". Sadly, Sim's doesn't even have a goal other than... what? Live?

Anyway, my favorite game of all time is the RPG: Chrono Trigger.

And that's me in a nutshell as far as gaming goes.

Anyone else?

I'm a console/handlheld gamer mainly. I don't really like to play games in a PC, so I don't even consider PC games.
I can't say I'm loyal toward a console... but I've had almost every Nintendo console. I also played to death Ps1 and Ps2, but haven't been motivated enough to get an Xbox. Basically, if there's a game that I really like or am interested, and know of some other games that I would like of a console, I'll get it. That's how I got the SNES (for Street Fighter 2 first), the Gamecube (Mainly for Melee, but got plenty of other games after that) and I plan to do the same for the Wii (Will get it for Brawl, and get some other games along the way)
abouts genres... I'm all about RPGs
First one I played was Secret of Mana, and then LoZ: Link's awekaning, but my first turned based RPG was Super Mario RPG, followed by Wild Arms, then I got to play FFVII (never finished, but that's a different funny/sad story), and tactics, and got forever hooked on RPGs, checking some older titles (and newer too!)
I also like Fighting games. I've never been VERY good at them, but they entertain me. Just like with RPGs, I like to know more about each characters backstory and motives for fighting (yeah... in fighting games)
The racing games (and sports game for that matter) are very fantasy like (like Mario Kart, F Zero, etc) and like puzzle games too.
I suck horribly at FPS games. They don't interest me at all (unless it's N64's Goldeneye)
Not much of a fan of any kind of shooting games or purely action games (So there goes GTA, DMC, God of War, etc)
Mmm... I usually give Mario games the benefit of the doubt, but gave up on the Party series (last one I played was the third one) Actually, I haven't played most of the Mario's recent sport games.

Favorite games? Let's see...
RPG: Suikoden 2 (and Skies of Arcadia, FF Tactics)
Fighting: Super Smash Bros Melee, (Or Soul Calibur 3, if you're expecting a more serious type of game)

I'm a casual gamer. Too casual, to speak the truth. I could count the games I've ever finished in my fingers... I usually get bored too fast.

Genre? Anything goes, mostly. RPGs are guaranteed. Racing? Not that much, but Burnout does rule. And F-Zero. F-Zero rocks HARD. Platformer? I'm a huge fan of the GBA Castlevania titles, but other than that, pretty much nothing else in that genre. I like fighters. I really do. Tekken, Soul Calibur, etc. My problem is that I don't put enough effort into them to become really good. I hatehatehatehate too fast-aced games or games that focus too much on doing things as fast as possible (Super Metroid and its endings can kiss my Spring Love). So yeah... when you need to start considering single freakin' frames to play Tekken, my interest drops. I like to take my time on stuff and play safe, mostly. I've tried playing DMC and Megaman, but those are too hard for me and I never felt like putting too much effort into them.

I do like random games from the most varied genres, if they're good and not annoying. I can enjoy most anything. Even though I suck at most things. ^^ The only game I can say with certainty that I'm good at is F-Zero for the GBA (Maximum Velocity and GP Legend). For some reason, those really caught my interest.

Consoles...? I have five: Super Nintendo, Playstation, Playstation 2, GameBoy Color and GameBoy Advance (not SP). And I most likely will never upgrade to next gen. So yeah... My favorite ones are the GBA and the PS2. GBA more than anything.
I mean, PS2 is the best console out there, IMO. But... my first game ever was Pokemon Blue/Red. I started with the handhelds, and the handhelds still hold a very special place in me. My GBA still has a Vegeto sticker behind it, from the very first day I got it. It's special.

So that's basically it.
Likes: Good games. Handhelds.
Dislikes: Too hard games, speed requirements.

For my own curiosity, I'll try to remember all the games I've ever completed...
SNES: Chrono Trigger
GBC: Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, and almost Silver (it was in Japanese, couldn't figure out how to wake the Snorlax up =x); Rayman
GBA: Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, F-Zero: GP Legend
PS2: Final Fantasy X (personal pride!), Urban Reign (not 100%, but Story Mode done).
...and that's it, I guess. Can't remember anymore. I suck at completing games xP

Favorite games:
RPG: Suikoden 2 (yeah!), FFX, Pokemon series
Platformer: Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
Fighting: Soul Calibur 3, Tekken 5
Racing: Burnout 3, F-Zero: GP Legend
Action: God of War, Diablo II: Lord of Destruction

I like every genre except:

Sports games that don't have "Mario" in them.
Strategy RPGs that are in any form like FF Tactics/Disgeaa.

Some of my favorite games are Contra, Lufias, Shining Force (the good ones), Marios, and so much more.

I am a videogames for life fan.

I've been a number of types of gamers through the years, but presently, I am a console gamer with no special allegiance to any company, with survival-horror my clear favorite genre and RPGs (especially turn-based) a solid second. I would say too that I love creating on RPGMs as much as playing any genre including survival-horror.

While I like console games, I'm more passionate for handheld games. I've owned every gameboy system (exception: GBA Micro) and love the older titles created for it.

As far as genres, I'm pretty open to try anything. Favorites being rpg's, simply because they have more qualities than most games.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who prefer Mario Sport games over realistic sports games :D
