I'm just wondering, can any of you guys think of a game that already exists where you just kind of stun sentry enemies in order to collect goods?

I guess Pac-Man kind of counts here, but something more... developed with 3D or 2D graphics and environments.

I'm making a game for my design class, but so far I see it being kind of like Mystical Ninja Goemon, except less plot and more cute... and of course, a more specialized environment, crap like that. But the hitting stuff in order to collect things is there, but the enemies would not die, just be stunned.

^For those who may not know.

I'm trying to put my finger on a x + y kind of thing for my "treatment" or gaming pitch. It's a part of it, under the header "Related Games", to give the developer a feel for what you are making.

My game consists of this adorable Japanese orphan girl attempting to collect Onigiri(rice balls) on various levels in order to help her peers and herself from the hunger that comes with poverty. Once you get a certain amount of rice balls, you complete the stage, but authority figures are the ones you need to stun in order to not lose by losing all your health points. There are also power-ups to aid you in keeping away from the antagonists as well as keeping them at bay.

You also collect Yen pieces, and use them at the end of each level to buy powerups that you can use anytime, or healing items. These are by no means exclusive, however, it's nice to have an arsenal. I was also thinking of making it so you could get your character little weapon upgrades or at least a variety of weapons that would help further.

Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. It is more of a waiting for the auto-lock to turn purple then steal. But stunning them is the most effective way to do so, in some cases.

How about Ape Escape? In that game, the goal is to capture monkeys.

You hit them with your Stun Baton and then capture them in the Time Net.

^ And that was, surprisingly, a very entertaining and good game. Seriously. =P

I loved that game.

Interestingly enough, yeah... does kinda sound like that.
