I think GameFAQs karma is a bit different than this kind of karma, becuase our karma doesn't restrict how much you can post and users give it to each other.

Holy Tarrasque, Guarionex has 5 karma already...
Must... race... for karma...

Not really, actually. But it's one of those things people will like to have. Like posts. In reality it doesn't matter, but it makes people proud when they actually have it.

Oh I know it's nothing alike.
But by the time karma was implemented in GameFAQs, I had been long enough to not have any posting restrictions anyway. (Been going there since 2001)

Karma per post ended when I joined, which is gay. I'm an Icon right now, though, so it's all good.

There was never karma per post. You get karma per day, but you had to post that day. Now you only need at least one active post and log in

Karma per post did exist, but before our time mostly. Some people have over 4000 karma, which there haven't been that many days since 2001 and 2007.

Before my time, there was no karma. And there was no karma for a while after my time, when seeing 300 users online was a HUGE amount, and the only social boards were Current Events and Random Insanity (The latter was my "home" back then)
The requisites to level up were to have at least 15 active posts after 30, 60 and 90 days of making your account. The highest level (the Admin's) was lvl 10. There were no Ancients, no Icon, no Legends. The highest level was Veteran. When karma was implemented, every already created account got one karma per day (a 1 year old account got 365 karma, for example)
Aaaand, on GameFAQs birthdays, active users get a karma boost that ranges from 5-10 percent, so the amount of actual karma gained per boost varies greatly (I got like ~300 karma in the boost this year)
Those people with +4000 have been since almost the beginning, have been active every day (by logging in and making sure to have active posts every day) and haven't missed any karma boost.

I know what I'm taking about. The boards there were the only ones I posted before coming here. Yes, I'm a geek.

Seriously, I used to go to GFAQs in 2001 (Under the name myoky, but it got banned.)

And yes, there was karma per post, I was usually able to get almost 20-30 karma per day because of it. but they got rid of it in the last few years. (2004 I think)

If I still had my myoky account there, I would have around 3000-4000 karma, seeing as I had about 1000 when it got banned.

I know I'm NOT imagining things.
http://wikifaqs.net/index.php?title=Karma

Quote:
Gaining Karma

Prior to the Karma system being implemented, user accounts did not have a numerical representation of their time on GameFAQs. User levels were determined solely by the chronological age of the account. GameFAQs Chat used a slightly different system, whereby users gained levels based on the number of hours spent using the chat system.

When Karma was introduced, all user accounts were retroactively given Karma based on their account creation date. At this point, users had to post at least once a day in order to receive their daily Karma point. Furthermore, users could gain or lose Karma for marking messages based on whether or not they were deleted. Many users have enquired as to why CJayC does not have perfect Karma, with the answer having its roots in this period of GameFAQs's history, during which CJayC did not post daily. Because of the daily post requirement, the Karma Topic was invented by users to get their daily Karma post.

The bonus Karma for marking messages was quickly scrapped, and the daily post was no longer necessary after a while. Post requirements were reduced to logging in each day and having at least one active message. Karma Topics were still popular due to the active message requirement.

Currently, users are only required to be logged into the boards at least once each day to receive their Karma point.

It's funny how we managed to go off topic but staying on topic :lol

Can someone tell me where to find this Karma feature? I don't see any changes..

Edit: I want to keep neo. But Neo don't have the new features. :(

This is a nice little feature that'll probably not reflect or change things either
way.
