New in the Articles section.

No, we're not literally dead.

Props to article writer Lantis.

Really good article. I'd like to contribute by writing some fan-made stuff. I have many things to contribute, it's just a matter of "when" do I contribute them.

I'm not going to be the stereotypical chap that says he will have this and that for the site. What I will say is that I will happily contribute to the site after I develop my studio....which is to say, after I get my PC. Don't worry, I've got ONE game (RPGM3) that I have been working on and thats all I'm saying about that.

I can safely say I have skills in field development (in RPMG3), and am even thinking of making map packs that are exclusive to the MAG, so that people can tweak these maps for there own projects.

I can't go on saying too much about what I can do because I don't have images to support my claims, not to mention, its hard to take my word for it. But I promise you all, I will deliver.

I'm glad to see serious members of the community concerned about the MAG (Lantis) and also thank them in helping this community stay alive, because I very much want to stay a part of it.

Just gonna say, I consider myself a serious member to the MAG, and will soon contribute in my own way. Yup, yup.

Well, I can only speak for myself. The current plan is to continue working on my second game, finish it, then get started on the third (which could possibly close out my tilogy if I don't leave things open for a fourth game). The hardest part right now is working on the second game, which has turned out to be much harder to produce than the first one was. I'm not entirely in control of the creative process. Sometimes ideas have to spend time aging a bit before they become truly good ideas; and there's a process involved, of weeding out the bad ideas and figuring out which ones will work best.

I had a good number of personal setbacks in 2007 that impeded my progress. Nevertheless, I am commited to the task of producing as many quality games as I can. I have numerous game ideas, enough for possibly half a dozen more games, at the least. My ultimate goal is to eventually become the Mag's and Pavilion's most prolific game author. But what must be understood is that it's gonna take time. The hardest part is going to be the current project and its sequel. With those finished, I'm hoping the going may get easier.

I am also planning on eventually offering my services as a collaborator, to help others with their projects if I can (and if such help is welcome). Designing games has made me very much aware of my strengths and weaknesses. In a proper collaboration with the right person, I could play up my strengths (mostly in the realm of world design) to help out without having to work too much on things I'm not really all that good at.

Edit: I also had the idea of producing empty game worlds for others to use. Sort of like a "sample game world", for those who would rather just write a story without having to worry about designing maps and dungeons. I've found it's much easier to get a rough draft of a game world created and then work with it, shaping it into a more sharply defined world. It's getting the rough draft up and running that's the hard part. If we provide some rough drafts of quality game worlds for players to work with, that could be helpful to some.

Bottom line: I intend to produce games, whether on my own or with someone else.

Good things come to those who wait.

I thought the article was a really good read. I deffinetly agree with Lantis. We can help make the Mag better with simple things. I still haven't posted my demo here because I wasn't sure how. I just had a link, but now I'm going to try. I also plan on having my game out before o9.

I just finished reading the article. It was a good read through too. I could consider myself one of the semi-old members that hasn't posted much this year. It's not that I don't like the mag. It's really a cool place, actually.

Seeing as I usually reserve my posting for the Game Development forums, and they have been rather inactive, I just haven't posted much.

Anyway, nice job Lantis!! :)

I appreciate the article but it seems as though if Lantis were to wait for about a couple weeks to a month, the only thing he'd have a beef about is the older member's not posting, otherwise it seems as though a lot of people are ready to submit games, myself included.

Nice article. Some altogether good points. Can't really say much cause I'm guilty of most of that :P

Will try to do better?

Um, I dunno about you Lantis, but I didn't really notice that until you mentioned it.

Actually, I've always been giving him a hard time about it. This isn't the first time I've mentioned it...

I'm all for these changes that you suggest Lantis. I'm in the chat every once in a while, but no one seems to join me. I hope to see some people in there.

Yeah, for serious, that's why I am back.

I missed you guys. I consider this forum to be a part of myself, believe it or not.

Busy with school and work, it was a trying time last college semester. But I scored 4 A's and a B in my classes.

If I'm not posting here anymore, I'm on Maplestory. I was on WoW once again, but after a huge accidental overdrawing incident with my bank, I lost about 120 bucks. So WoW is out for a while. I played Maplestory some with friends, and bam... my little sister plays, and then I get sucked in.XD

I now come back here more often. I have lurked, but I only post when I feel I can really add something, or really want to add my two cents.

Now to prod myself to hop on AIM more often.

I've grown away from the mag because I'm trying to work on my life and doing better in school, which has improved by the way. But also, I just don't know what to post about anymore or what to post for that matter. I'm really not a big internet person anymore. I've picked up guitar, have hung out more, studied more, and haven't really thought about the Mag all that much.

But, times do change. People get older, people see things differently, or they just grow out of net forums. All in all, I'm just saying that I'm not around for more personal reasons rather than just being tired of it.

Although I'm in no rush, maybe the lack of a new RPG Maker has something to do with a decrease in interest in the Mag?

The article was an interesting platform for Lantis' opinions, and i enjoyed reading Crythania and Leviathan's replies in here. Also hearing that Fayorei is alive is always nice ^_^
