I hope this is the right forum for this. If not, please move it to the appropriate
place.

Some screenshots of my game "Relic" I've been currently working on for about 6 months (RPGM3). I've scrapped it and started over many times so my progress is slow.

Anyway, just looking for some feedback on my maps. I don't want to delve into the plot/storyline because I don't want to create any hype yet until I'm almost finished. These are all the same map.

Here they are (Taken with a digital cam):

Very good looking map!

It's nice to see some graphical talent that eclipses my own. I especially love the pointed mountain tops and brown side of the plateau that the castle rests on. Great attention to detail! I see you also have some "brown sides" for steep river banks. Very cool.

I would add more forested regions, as the "green field" parts look a bit too barren. Or perhaps beds of wildflowers or grass if it won't cause slowdown.

Rock on, dude!

Oh my god!

That is a really great map there! I especially like the mountains, they're really cool Seraphim. I agree with Crythania about puting more of the "forest" region to add that green-ness touch ^^

Good job ^^ V

:D

Thanks everyone! I agree, a few more trees wouldn't hurt. I am a bit concerned about slowdown, but I wanted to add some rocks to give it a bit of a rocky coastal feel.

Try adding some dirt to the large grass areas. Ya know, it will seem more realistic IMO. :)

Set the tree density to "Many". Default trees don't cause slowdown. It's decorative objects, towns, and dungeons that could cause slowdown if you have too many on the map. A few rocks and palm trees on a beach shouldn't cause slowdown. Experiment with it.

Something the map needs is dirt roads. If it's a well traveled region, I think there should be roads leading to towns and other places of interest.

Patches of brown dirt couldn't hurt, but in flat regions it looks square-ish. Try creating a small mound of dirt or a small hill, so as to break up the square-ish look of the graphics.

I agree with Crythania, you did the sides of the castle's plateau beautifully. Also, good job with the mountains, they look like they were individually modeled -takes time, but thats the way to go. :)

Goes without saying you're getting much better with the map editor! I really like this one more then your others. Good job.

Well Lausen, I have you to thank for it! Like I said before, after seeing your maps, I was determined to make improvements on my own (although my old ones were pretty good IMO). :)

And yes Leviathan, I did mold them individually, and yes it did take a looooong time. :( But it's totally worth it.
