Post here and post your first impressions of RPG Maker 3 once you have it in your hands. :)

Well.

I finally got RPGM3!

And here are my impressions, with both the good and the bad:

-RPGM3 is not dropdead easy. I'm sure it will get easier, but I was hoping for something that requires little thought. Guess not!
-As a reply to my first "-" thing, there's a lot of depth. I do get the feeling that i'm limited a lot, but i'm sure with time it'll get a lot more deep.
-Dear Brave Heart is strange. I immediately went to the sample castle and checked that place out...it was neato. Only fret I have is I couldn't save because I didn't save "Dear Brave Heart"'s data.
-Ports were okay. Not amazing, not horrible. More like...semi-bad. None of them really met the style I like, but hey, one of them (Port 4, I believe) is workable.
-Samurais. They don't look like samurais! The port rocks for them, though. Even if the avatar looks like a Mage.
-Chickens. I fought a Chicken in Dear Brave Heart. That's neato. <3

There's a lot more to this game than one post can fill. I will say this, though. It's going to take awhile before I get anything in this game. I'm one that works slow...and so, it will take time. RPGM3 is pretty neat. It has some places that it falls short, but overall it was well worth the $50.

I have it also. just got it. I'm waiting for the application to download to the HDD. (20 minutes!!!)

First impressions? The box is nice, and the plastic came right off!! Not like the usual battles where I ponder using my Samurai Sword to cut through the plastic :nope

Guess I'll start on the game I been planning while I waited for it to be released.

I got mine today as well.

I am still quite confused but I know I have only been at it for an hour or so.

It is quite limited, but I can think of ways to get around it.

I will have to re-work how I make my game, but I think I can get around the limitations and make something quite nice.

Wow, here I am Mr. Newbe. And yet while new I have also been salavating in anticipation for RPG maker 3 for months. I loved RPG Maker 1 becuase of all the great stuff you could do. 2 sucked, but that's another issue. Now three is out and the battle are certainly better. You can finally see your freaking main characters while they fight! Yeah.

What I discovered while playing the first few minutes of RPG maker 3

1. Wish I had a hard drive, becuase I can only save one game on my memory card.

2. This game is great but only in making games that rely on Medival story lines ( Knights, Wizzards, Dragons, etc. ) This sucks since I wanted to make an update of Chrono Trigger...oh well guess not.

3. Look at the screen shots, what you see is what you get. Basic generic tile sets.

4. The character drawings/anime shots look cooler than the 3D characters. Just look at option four for the graphic pic for the adventurer. Looks so cool, but there isn't a 3D character that looks like that...what the heck.

5. Battles are slower than I would have liked...hopefully I can change that.

6. Graphics arn't bad, but you can walk through trees on the world map.

7. Music is pretty good, but need to experiment more with it.

8. Running around as your character is harder to do than I wished, but I walked into buying the game knowing that already.

9. Typing is still hard to do with just a controller, better get a usb keyboard.

10. If you feel like returning the game an hour or so after you bought it becuase it didn't meet all of your expectations, don't listen to yourself. Your expectations as someone who would even consider buying a game about creating RPGs will be higher than what was put into the game. Just think of a good plot that can be done within the restrictions of the game and think happy thoughts while playing RPG maker 3.

Guess that's about it. See you in the funny papers. =)

This game Fn roolz, I have been playing it for hours now. And I love my story so far! Once again, I love the DBS, pretty graphics, music, and amazing artwork. I cant get my VFX freak on, but no prob, the game is already beautiful enough as it is.

Welcome to the site, Vinny. :)

Just a note, though: Your Final Fantasy avatar raped the tables horribly, so I ended up removing your avatar. You could use that picture as a signature better, I believe. Please find something a bit smaller.

Thanks Ixzion, It's good to be on the site. Oh, and I'll try to find another avatar, although I really liked the one I had and I couldn't find a smaller one of the same pic...oh well, it's cool.

Side Thought-If you look at the Ninja 3D model in RPG maker 3 and pick the fourth color set...the green one, he kind of looks like Halo's Master Chief...though I'm not a big X-Box fan, you could kind of make Halo RPG. Interesting

Halo RPG—No guns of coarse, but I'm sure you could give a reason why using a sword is better. After there are guns in all of the final fantasy games and yet the main character always uses a sword, well except Squall who had a GunBlade, but still, it's a sword.

Just bought it.....so far...I've gone straight to the class/character editing...& I'm sorry to say...a lot of them look...just...I don't like em. However a lot of the women look nice...& the 4th pallet for the male archer, the ninjas look like power rangers...lol...& wtf at not being able to make a large dog or wolf...& so far it looks like u can't equip 2 weapons....I may be wrong though...I'm also not familiar with RM...a lot of time spent on FM though...but this is my first purchase of an RM...er...thas all. 1

I personally haven’t found a way to have a monster be a character, though that would be really cool.

And I found you can make a character hold two weapons, but I don't know if that characteristic is based on a class system. Like the fact that a ninja holds a katana and an adventurer holds a sword. But maybe.

By the by, what trick did some guy find...where can I find this trick?

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Does anyone know how to spice up the dungeons and make them more interesting? The ones I make are so boring; a door here, a crumbling wall there, and a switch, a trap, and stairwell so I don't fall asleep while I'm playing my dungeon.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

-Other ideas for RPG maker 3-

I thought about making a Zelda game. The adventurer model that wears the second or third color set is has a green outfit. Seems about as Linkish of a character as I could find.
