I guess this is where I say something like "I guess I often find myself in a pickle" or something. But a pickle isn't really a vegetable... well, it is before it's pickled. But whatever.

Heh, so much for discretely trying to slip a date past you guys... ¬_¬

Confound you all.

@gnasher - please tell them that it's not an american holiday... and here is the first result i got for googling halloween origins http://www.halloween-website.com/history.htm
and a wiki links ..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween

there is plenty of other sites about where it actually came from. people thinking it's an american holiday seriously perturbs me.

@The Gnasher

Are the ones who think Halloween is from the US talking about the American version of it as globalizing, or are they mistakingly thinking that it's origin is non-European.

In other words, are they giving the US too much credit for creating things or too much blame for things they are not responsible for?

Nah, those complainin people are the usual complaining people who never actually think what they're complaining about. You know? Like those weird protests that find their way into publicity from time to time.

Their official slogan last year was something like "Halloween my ass, long live Brasilian culture!" Literally. With the 'ass' in. I bet that 99% of the people who actually support the movement think it's a US holiday. Why? I think that mostly because you don't see Italians or Germans or whatevers celebrating it. The children with pumpkin heads always speak english... without that regalish accent.
So I thought I could pretend to be cool and slip away without spoiling it, but that won't do. So... anyone noticed my cool pun? Eh? "Regalish accent"? Eh, eh?
oh, man.

*sigh*

¬_¬ *casual backhand all sophisticated like (completely ignoring the possibility that TG might get all ninja and break my spine in 6 places or whatever)* you stop it with the puns, you're making everyone else look bad.

=P

... i'm actually not sure how celebrated Halloween is over on the continent. i think spain do something generally cool for it, but beyond that i'm actually fairly ignorant. tbh, Halloween was never a holiday I particularly paid attention to. ^_^;

Heh, if it makes you feel any better, the same goes for me. I've always 'celebrated' by eating dinner, messin on the internet, and maybe play a video game.

Which is pretty close to how I celebrate every day...

It seem students at campus didn't have enough money for decent costumes too.. of the few people in costumes, the best I saw was a guy with a super man t shirt with jeans red briefs over his jeans.
I was out at night (but not partying or doing anything particularly fun) and saw some very crowded pubs were there were more people in the line than the actual capacity of the building.
Back at home, I saw very few kids out. And the ones I saw were trick or treating at like 10:00 pm :o

I celebrated my Halloween by writng "Halloween" instead of "31/10" in my school notebooks. ^^

Other than that, I didn't see anything happening O.o

Edit: Oh, the Dead's Day I was talking about? It's today. So far it hasn't rained yet, but if it doesn't rain at all in Dead's Day, then the End is really coming...
Thought we almost had a storm last night... but it was yesterday and doesn't count :D
