Wait, what day is Halloween again?

I'm not doing anything. Few people here actually care for it. Most just say "okay, today is Halloween" when it's Halloween and forget the fact for the rest of the day. Of course, we have the ones who really do something, and the ones who go out on the street with huge protest signs reading DOWN WITH CAPITALISM and REJECT THE FOREIGN HOLIDAY IMPOSED ON US.

I find it all rather amusing. Honestly. But even more honestly, I really don't care.

I don't think Brazil has the right climate for Halloween.

It's really something, isn't it? People think that just because Halloween is a US holiday, celebrating it in Brasil is some sort of devil's scheme to spread globalization, and thus can't be good.
It's amazing how people can be... people. =P

@Bo: ...climate? You guys need a climate to have spooky themes? I mean, sure, wearing those hideously hot monster costumes must be much easier in winter... but anyway... Just doesn't make much sense to me.
As far as I know, we don't have Halloween because there's no tradition or anything of that kind and we just don't want to. No point in doing so.
Although we have a Deads' Day, some Friday of some month, in which it always rains. No exceptions for like, years.

I am sure that Brazil like many countries have spooky environments and 'dark' holidays like the Dead's Day.

It is more specifically that part of the American Halloween is going out in the cool weather, with the fall leaves on the trees (as a reminder of imminent seasonal death), and feeling a slight wind so that it is a particular type of spooky. Then you feel safe at home (like a Resident Evil save room) when you eat your candy and watch horror movies.

It is like Christmas without snow. You could do it, but wouldn't it be missing something?

EDIT: I guess you would have the same problem with Christmas in Brazil regarding climate.

@Bo - Meh, climate is never a big deal for us because we can't miss what we don't have. This is one helluva boring country in the weather department, season change is barely noticeable (except for the eventual change in rain frequency and slight temperature twist).
I reckon that US's Christmas has got snow, but Brasil's Christmas has not. It's like an aspect that just is, no one says "dang, I wish there was snow" because the snowy-Christmas-mentality does not exist here. ^^

I respect what you are saying, but that is very different from the way many North Americans see Christmas.

Yeah, with Halloween, it ususally unfortunately ends up too cold or rainy and then you have to wear a coat over your brand new costume.
