..... Okay, I realize that Wild Arms 4 is nothing new to these forums, but I only just now got around to purchasing and playing it, and, being right at what I am guessing to be the final dungeon in the game, I thought it was the right time to make a topic I have been intending to make for a while.

See, there's a lot of ways that this RPG is different from others, and also, at least judging by the reviews of Wild Arms 4 over at gamefaqs.com, it seems that either you really like this game, or you pretty much hate it the most out of any Wild Arms title made so far. Some of the features that reviewers found to dislike about this game, I found to be positive, and the reverse was also true. Therefore, I would like to think that this topic can make for good discussion. Some Magonians here have already indicated that they've played through this game, so I would like to hear your opinions. What did you like or dislike about this game?

I will say this much right now; though I thought at first that this hexagonal battle system or whatever it's called would be really stupid, from what Kajak had been telling me about it a few weeks ago, but it turns out that I like it just fine. In anything, it sure makes random battles go by nice and fast, and after playing Xenosaga I and II (slowest-paced fighting in the world), I am all for it. ^_^

horrible plot, worst character design and sayings ive ever seen, battle system was nice and innovative, the game was short and i disliked the lack of freedom this game had compared to every other installment. over all i dont like it at all. im at the final dungeon too but the sidequests are crap so far so ill probably beat it and forget it. im tired of all the same stuff they keep bringing over from one game to the next. id strongly recommend people skip this game and proceed to the 5th installment which is better and has the hex system.

Well SK, I'm sure I've mentioned many times how I'm currently playing this. I find it to be a light-hearted RPG with some good qualities to it. I never thought a platforming RPG would ever work, but it does here. It's my first Wild Arms game, and I really like it. The plot is rather dull, but the characters help me it far more interesting. The cast of characters (good and bad) are kinda cliche/anime ridden, but somehow it stays original and fun.

Bought it for 20 bucks. I got my money's worth of it. Still haven't beaten it yet.

So it's out? I'm totally there.

... And you're right about the weakness of the plot, 1ce. Though, it wasn't so bad that it caused the game to lose a lot of points with me. Besides, I found this whole using all children to save the world stuff a bit refreshing; it's just that I wish both the heroes and the villains wouldn't talk so much about it. It seemed that at the turn of every boss battle, the villains would keep harping on about how the heroes were all just naive kids who couldn't grow up and face reality, which I found odd considering how easily these so-called elite soldiers of Brionac would go down at the hands of Jude and company.

(One thing you have to love about RPG's; heroes who are seemingly the most unlikely warriors can always get the upper hand on war-trained villains. I find it about as unrealistic a scenario as little Rebecca's punk-slapping the Tyrant - the very same creature Wesker refers to as "the ultimate bioweapon" - in Resident Evil 0. But I digress.)

Still, it gave the game a sense of innocence (for lack of a better term), which I personally found appealing.

And at least they finally changed out the look of the monsters for the most part in this installment. (I mean, it was so ridiculous that nearly every monster in Alter Code F was the exact same as the monsters you fight at random in Wild Arms 3.)

.... Oh, and, ... Raquel is now the most awesome heroine in RPG's.

Maybe it's just how I played, but Racquel is so overpowered she kills most enemies with one hit.

Not like that made the game any easier. The enemies are brutal and take a lot of HP. So it's challaging the whole way. Boss battles are pretty cool.

Overall, it's a well game game.

One of things I find funny about this is that 2 of the main characters are technically adults.

@Jamos - ... But they never seem to be looked upon as such. Even Raquel apparently doesn't think of herself as an adult, so that really leaves only Arnaud, who, contrary to Raquel, constantly brags about being an adult. But he's an idiot, so I don't consider him an adult, either.
