Is their a way to give the player the option to change the character's names? If so, how do you do it? I can only think of alternate names to choose from, and I doubt the player wants to choose from a list of predetermined names, instead of making up their own. Also, I apologize if this question has been asked before,(I still have not had a chance to really browse the forums-once again, my computer access is limited.) Thank you again anyone, for your help.

Create a Standard Event or Character mode that when triggered executes the event code (in Party Control):

'Enter Character Name'
(and select which character you want the player to edit the name of)

This brings up the text input interface to the player during the game and will rename the character that name.

I should note that even though you can change a character's name in RPGM3, you cannot show this name change in dialogue.

Awww, but there is still a way around this, even though I'm not doing it. I remember playing some of Dragon Quest VIII, and they had a system to where you could name the main character, but in all of the dialogue, the other characters had always referred to him as "Guv".

Also Draygone, would you happen to know if this happens the same way in RPGM2, or is there a way to put a custom name in the game's dialogue? Thank you in advance. :)

Well... I'm not Draygone, but I can tell you that RPGM2 does indeed allow changed names to be used in conversation.

But you need to plan for it from the beginning!

It uses "User Inputs" and you can store and recall them whenever and however you want.

Hey, thanks for the info, Rodak. Also, nice to meet ya. :)

Gosh, they really did take a whole lot of good stuff away from RPGM3.:cry All for the sake of being more user friendly?

Oh well, hopefully the next installment will have more of the old content, with the newer graphics.

Well, in Japan, RPGM3 isn't really part of the main console RPGM series. It's more of a spinoff RPGM.

A spinoff huh? Hmm, that means that the next RPGM could really ROCK! Oh, I hope that they put together(if they're not in the process already) a delicious piece of software for us. :drool

Unforutnately, we don't know what they're doing. We don't even know what console it's going to be on.
