Hunting and shooting my bow.

I been really getting into shooting my bow off in my yard. My uncles girl has been complaining about the arrows hitting her car after my uncle said it was ok because there where going to junk it anyways. Also the noise bothers her at night. $:\$

I been wanting the full experience. I have no trees in my yard. I live in the city so all my neighbor's are waving hello to me as me and TAI are shooting. :skeptical

TAI and I have even went as far as making are own arrows.

Shooting a bow in the woods or field was an idea. But I don't think its legal. So I was thinking about maybe going to a hunting grown. I don't have to kill nothing if I don't want to. I was thinking about bringing a target. Maybe even camp near by and make a day out of it or something.

But you know.. I'm afraid of getting shot at by other people. I wonder how hunters deal with that. Seems like a big chance that someone can get shot
if there in line of target with someone else's pray. $:\$

I know they make orange cloths to help with that and stuff. But you know what I was also thinking about... Why do they have both "camouflage" outfits and "orange" out fits?

Yeah, the camouflage will help you sneak up on a deer so you can kill it. But if someone shoots you, you will be wishing that you where waring that orange gear. And if your waring orange that deer can see you a mile away. So... whats the point?

Anyone have any ideas?

I wouldn't worry about getting shot so much.

I've never been hunting, but I would take a guess and say hunters don't go out shooting people. If you were silently hunting in one spot, you would probably take time to line up the perfect shot, so they'd notice if it's a person or bear.

Then again, I know nothing about hunting. Maybe some research would be helpful. Just type in something like hunting faq in google.

I don't hunt either but I would assume that the only time you wear camoflauge is when you are on private land, especially in the deep wilderness.

I would assume that you would be required to wear the orange in public hunting ranges.

"The vice-president didn't see him," she told the Associated Press news agency. "He picked out a bird and shot and, my God, Harry was in the line of fire and got peppered pretty good.

"It broke the skin," she said. "It knocked him silly. But he was fine. He was talking. His eyes were open. It didn't get in his eyes or anything like that."

Mrs Armstrong added that these things happen "from time to time - you know, I've been peppered pretty well myself".

Fortunately for Mr Whittington, a millionaire lawyer from Austin, the vice-president's medical team, on permanent call due to his sometimes fragile physical condition, were nearby.

"Fortunately, the vice-president has got a lot of medical people round him and they were right there," Mrs Armstrong said.

"He has an ambulance permanently on call and it came immediately."

Although the incident occurred at 5.30pm, Mr Whittington was not admitted to the nearby Corpus Christi Memorial hospital until 8.15pm. He was treated for birdshot injuries to the neck, chest and face, and was said to be in good condition and good spirits.

Yesterday, he was visited by Mr Cheney at the hospital.

Mr Cheney is an avid hunter who makes annual trips to South Dakota to hunt pheasants and to Arkansas to hunt ducks.

It makes me worry..

heh, that's an old story, it's been around for along time because it's about our Vice President.

I would say don't worry, what kind of hunting ground would you be going to? Deer? Bear? If you ask me, it's easy to tell a person from a bear or deer.

As for hunting, no one is going to shoot you. As for your gear, camouflage doesn't work perfectly, unless you're in one of those stands way above the ground, which is more than likely what you're doing. Unlike human beings, deer are color blind and can see body outlines, so they could see you even with camouflage on. You'll need to be kinda like a sniper, with grass and leaves and sh*t on you. But that's if you're hunting on the ground.

Wow, KK you're so lucky to be able to play with a bow and arrow. I wish i could go shooting arrows too, it's really fun ^^

As for getting shot, hmm... well there's a possibilty of that but the odds of that happening would be low. Wear some protective gears as Shadow mentioned and i think you should be just fine. Of course getting shot is fate. What can you do about it? ^^

^ Well, die for one.. I'm kinda afraid of death.. I remember it being a black hole. Not something I'm ready for.

@Facts- umm.. I don't know. Maybe something small like wild rabbits and wood chucks. I need to check the parks.XD

@KA Yeah I think I'm feeling better about this whole thing. I will call the parks and see what they have to offer.

I like to use rifles. One day, I'm going to a range to shoot pistols, combat rifles and sniper rifles. The power in my hands will feel so... sexy.

^ you're inviting jokes about compensation. =P

amusingly enough, i genuinely can't shoot. at all. i probably couldn't even shoot myself, unless i turned the gun 90 degrees away from me and closed my eyes.

i also think the chances of you getting shot by someone else while wearing a hunting jacket are pretty slim.

I know very little about hunting, but I'll tell you what I do know. My grandfather used to go hunting all the time, and this is the compromise he came up with. He wore camouflage clothing and an orange hat. I don't know how much this helps, if any, but I'm just telling what I know.

By the way, consider yourself very lucky that you are one of few people who can use a bow and arrow. I am somewhat ambedexterous, but the first and only time I tried shooting an arrow (it was at a Medieval Festival), I couldn't seem to shoot it even in the general direction of the target.

I've never tried to shoot anything in my life. The closest I've gotten is throwing crayons, but I doubt it's the same =P
