So, I have a question for you guys...

Is anyone interested in playing D&D (Dungeons & Dragons)?

I'd be willing to GM a D&D adventure (that is, a 'quest', with beginning anf end) here. How? We do it by the forums, but with the regular D&D rules.

Why?
Before the 'eletronic RPG' existed, there was the 'RPG'. It's called Role-Playing-Game. The videogame versions might as well be called Role-Watching-Game, because there is absolutely no eletronic RPG that'll let you really play a role.
On the other hand, 'tabletop' RPGs are the best of the best in that category.
And for all of you who "played it in highschool and didn't like it", okay, but did you take it seriously back then?

So...
Is anyone interested in trying out a play-by-forum D&D?

For us to have a good time, I think 4-6 people is the right amount. It'll also be somewhat boring if the players suddenly disappeared, so I please ask you that want to play if you'll be able to post regularly (once every 3 or 4 days would be the ZOMGish limit, once a day is the ideal).

I think the experience is worth it for people who never played a tabletop RPG. Even more for people who appreciate eletronic RPGs.
If nothing else, you'll get to see where it all began. The first Final Fantasy was hugely based on D&D. Ultima, too. Neverwinter Nights? Hah, too much. And every RPG ever was influenced by this game.
It is, IMO, the absolute king of all Role-Playing-Games, tabletop and eletronic alike.

Elder Scrolls, but I digress.

Yes, I'd be interested in playing.

My friend showed me about D&D a few years back.
I liked it, but, too bad I don't remember how to play.

Actually, forget that initial D&D-only idea.
I'd be willing to GM a number of RPGs by forum, all of them tabletop systems. Versatility.
Here are the options we have. Ask me about any of those. All those systems I know enough about to GM it properly.
About rules, I'm assuming most of you are beginners, so I'll take care of them. Just like that. Do not worry about rules.

3D&T - An extremely simple system with high-power characters. The whole system is based on anime/manga. This is the easiest and simplest option, and can be easily adaptable into any anime/manga scenario.
Daemon - A very realistic generic system. Can be adapted to fit any scenario. The scenarios I have available here with me are medieval fantasy, immortals (think Highlander), Supers (yay Batman and Spiderman) and Anime/manga (the more serious type, Hellsing, Trigun, etc).
Dungeons & Dragons - The classic. Realistic (Okay, not that much, but somewhat realistic) Medieval Fantasy. Complex as hell. Fun as hell. Interesting as hell. Serious setting. My favorite one.
Paranoia - An extremely fun little game where players are pitched against one another (and everybody else) in a paranoid, gone-completely-crazy world. Definetly worth a try.
Toon - System based on saturday morning cartoons. Like Looney Tunes. Splash pies on people's faces, stay in mid-air until you notice there's no floor below you, fire a gun and have it blow on your face, you know the deal. Also very fun. ^^

As you can see, the only really serious settings available are D&D and Daemon. That's because I kinda specialize in D&D =P All the others I have learned and somewhat mastered because they're just so fun.
There are other serious settings & systems, like the goth punk horror or Vampire or the rule madness of GURPS. But I don't know enough of those to GM anything in them =/

My preferred choices would be D&D, Daemon, or Paranoia (heh). But I'm willing to GM anything up there. Just tell me what you want.
And ask me whatever you want, too.

No sense in just starting a whole RP topic or subforum without first knowing whether there is any interest in RPing around here, yesno?

I don't think the RP forums have gained enough
attention for busy activity.

I would be really interested in Paranoia, if you manage to set it up, consider me signed up.

Ignoring the toon one, which one of those would I be able to be a creature or race with a tail?

I'm willing to play any of them, more specifically D&D or Daemon, focusing on the immortal or manga.

@ Phoenix - Okay. Man, Paranoia is an unforgettable experience. I just think it's almost bad for someone to have their first RPG experience with Paranoia. Iunno, if he gets used to the mentality, it'll ruin every other RPG game he plays xP

@ Dray - Actually, every one except for Paranoia. It's relatively easy to produce some sort of elf/whetever subrace who has a tail in D&D. Daemon, specially Supers or Manga, can also include tails.
Tails are much simpler because they most likely won't cause any particular gameplay issues.
Playing as creatures is harder in D&D and Daemon. I don't have the sourcebooks to do it in Daemon, and depending on the creature of your choice in D&D, there might be level adjustments. Which means, to fit in a 1st-level group, you have to choose a creature whose relative level is 0 (then, with class level, total level 1)... and those are mainly only the standard races =P
I'm sure we can figure that out. I was already thinking of a D&D adventure for 2nd or 3rd level.
I won't mention 3D&T. It's a point-based system, so as long as you have the points to 'buy' the creature type you want, you're set.

@ Kajak - yay ^^

Okay. So here's the deal.

I've got a simple and short D&D adventure set up, for 3-5 players.
We've already got two players, Dray and Kajak (if they still want to play =P).
Phoenix, you mind trying D&D? If not, I can round up the third character as a NPC, no problem.
The ideal would be 4, but since there are no more applicants, the adventure is easy enough to adapt for 3 characters.

I've been wanting to plat D&D for a long time, since my dad showed me how to play a few years back... The problem is, none of my friends are geeky enough to play D&D.

In other words, I'll play.

What?! A 5-man team? Man, now we're talking :D

I'll request and set up the sub-forum soon enough. But first, there's something I must know from all of you. I've got 2 adventure possibilities waiting for ya. Pick the one you like best:
1) shorter, simpler, more light-hearted and comical. 'D&D for fun'.
2) longer, deeper, more serious. 'Classical D&D'.

What do you prefer? Both offer room for plenty of both role-playing and combat.

Well, I'll be leaving again in another week, so if you can set it up quickly and allow us to play it, I'd prefer number 1 under the time restraint I'm in.

Hm, a week is not much. We still have to undergo the character creation process (one of the most fun parts of the game for me, I admit =P).
Let's do this. I'll request and set the sub-forum with character creation rules already. You go and create one, and after you come back, you're included in the game. I seriously don't think we can end an adventure 8either option) in one week. Also depends on how much time you'll be spending out, but in any way, there will probably be a lot of game left when you return. ^^
Your spot in the game is reserved for you in the time you spend out.

Well I won't be here tomorrow or Monday, but 1 or 2 is fine. Considering I'm new to D&D's, 1 sounds a bit easier, but whichever gets the majority vote I'm ok with.

We'll go with number 1, since it's also easier for me to set everything up.

Whoever wants to play, go here http://www.rpgmmag.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4889 and post a character concept. Do that as soon as you get the chance, please.

Btw, KK, I wasn't insulting your game =P for me, any type of electronical RPG isn't real RPG... it's something else, but not quite RPG.
