Are you asking about the name Zodiac? It's techniacally not a name, but here goes nothing...

The Chinese zodiac, which I'm sure is what's being referred to, is a cycle of twelve years. Each year has it's own animal representing it (a sign of the zodiac), and each animal has set characteristics associated with it in the Chinese tradition. A person born during a certain year in the chinese zodiac will be said to exibit at least some of these characteristics. That's why a Chinese New Year is said to be The Year of the (*insert animal type here*). Essentially it's much like astrological signs, only based on the year rather than the month. I, personally, don't put much stock into these things though.

When you told me about this topic, I thought you meant like a "screenname origins" topic. This is interesting.

I'm not sure about the game name. As for Sion, the closest to it is Simon, which means, roughly, "one who listens". Chaotix is obvously a respelling of chaotic. The x is only to make it sound more cool. If there is an x or a z at the end of a word, it gives the impression of being out of the ordinary, cool, or fast.

Draygone comes from Drake - "owner of the sign of the dragon" Middle English. The picture of a dragon was a familliar sign on shops in Medieval England, sort of like a trademark, if you will. The gone may have other roots beyond it's present usage, but I don't know of any. And also, it's a respelling of dragon.

Mick comes from Mike or Michael - basically means one who is a good person and has an all-around good character. He's probably a good friend to have.

Seth comes from the Hebrew Sheth, which means "appointed". This person might have an interesting life.

Nathan also comes from Hebrew. It means "a gift". He is probably good at cheering people up, I would think.

I'm not very good with screennames, so this is basically just real names, friends' names, and game characters' names.

I made up the name Lam An for my character in Knights of the Old Republic.

I know why I called it that. Are you trying to find another meaning that fits that name or is this for when someone doesn't know the origin of name that they are familiar with?

Both, really, but more the second one.

Lam An has several possible meanings, as both could come from several different names. My favorite is Lamar Aene, which seems to fit if your character is a knight. It means, roughly, "famous, awe-inspiring one".

Draygone, on the other hand, is a different explanation that I got before. I was told it meant "heart of a dragon" in some language I forget. I was hoping I'd be reminded what language that was. But yeah, it is a different spelling of 'dragon', as I revealed in one of those "screenname origins" topics I meantioned. (Those topics we each revealed how we created the names, not ask other people to figure out their origins.)

Ooh, I like this one. It comes from Old German and it means "resolute protector" A good name for a "knight" indeed.

This either comes from the Greek Darius, which means "wealthy", or Irish Gaelic Darren, which means "little great one".

I agree that James is not the best of names. It comes from Hebrew and means "the supplanter" (one who takes the place of another). It has negative connotations, but it can also be looked at in a positive light, as in doing a better job than the person before you.

As for Paprika, however, that is not technically a name, rather a name of a spice. Of course, there are names that are derived from plants and herbs, but, well I think it's kind of tacky. The closest actual name to it is Patricia, which comes from Latin and means "noble one".

Obviously all of those pseudonyms are referring to something inherantly feline about your character. Ryan comes from Irish Gaelic and means "little king", and Felix is Latin for "fortunate, lucky one", but you are probably alluding to Felix the cat.

Rick comes from Richard, which either means "powerful ruler" (Old German "Rich-hart") or "powerful-brave" (Old English "Ric-hard"). Either way, it seems a fitting name for either a strong main character, a king, or a prince.

I know of only one translation of Ian, which is Scottish Gaelic "God is gracious." If this offends anybody, stuff it and read the first post.
