For all you Firefox users, not sure how many know of this but there is an extension called Adblock Plus, and it totally rocks. Say goodbuy to annoying flash ads and animated gifs. No more of your page loading slow because the ad server is sucking that day. Best of all it is one of the easiest things to install ever.

EDIT: Link to the extension Adblock Plus

You have no idea how nice it is browsing a web not bombarded with ads. Firefox FTW.

And for those of you who can't install it at work, here is the portable version of Firefox

http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable
How to Migrate previous settings and such

This you can run from any USB flash drive. No installation needed.

Nothing wrong with switching to Firefox. You'll only have to worry about it being a bit slow the first day as you "break it in".

There should be a Firefox for Mac, I know it works for Linux. Yeah there is, unfortunately the portable one seems to be Windows/Linux, though it may work on UNIX and I'm pretty sure Mac is UNIX backed now.

Also sorry about not making this clear You DON"T have to use the portable version to use this extension.

Also the extention is here, sorry about that.

TTC, please add the link in for the "non- portable" please. I already have fire fox. I need to know where to get the adblocker.

Here's something for every Browser.

It edits your HOSTS file so that you can block virtually EVERY ad on the net.

Of course not quite as easy to update as the Firefox one, but I guess if you insist on using one of the other browsers (please don't say IE), then yeah that's a better solution. The Firefox one also puts a little block button beside every flash applet, so you can block ones that are just annoying but not necessarily ads. But then I guess you have to get used to using Firefox, but that's a fairly simple task I would think.

Hey, nice find. Much appriciated.

And what's more, IE makes you "click to activate" alot of the ads in which you don't want to see in the first place... irony.

I definitely recommend it, been using it for ages now. It's almost scary sometimes if I get on the internet on a computer other than my own... I'm like, Oh My God, look at all the ads!
