Hi, I was curious about making my own RPG and the RPGM sounded interesting, so I bought a RPG Maker 3 for PS2 on Ebay and am waiting for it to arrive via mail. In the meantime Ive been reading about it on the internet and am starting to get the idea that I may have been better off getting an RPG maker 2 instead. What do you guys think? Also is RPGM3 keyboard compatible and does it work with the sharkboard by gameshark? If anybody knows the answer or has an opinion about 2 versus 3 ... please share, thanks :)

Rpg Maker 3 is easier to master.

Rpg Maker 2 can take months to master. It's an exteremly
time consuming game.

And yes.

To answer your question. If you want to create a game with less work go with rpg maker 3. The only downfault is its limited. Rpg maker 2 is more powerful than three but also much harder. I would reccomend getting rpg maker xp.

Forget those people trying to be nice about this!!

RPGM2 is The Best of the lot.

I assume you are willing to Work for results, so I say get 2!!

Check the link in my signature for a peek at an old Video Effect Editor guide I made. 3 has NOTHING even Remotely like that!!

So, umm... yeah.

2.

I mostly been using 3. I like the idea that its "drop and play." You just drop the shiz where you want it. And play. :)
No brain needed. :P

What they said. RPGM3 is easier but limited (and its Field Map editor takes some getting used to), RPGM2 is a lot more powerful but a lot harder to learn (everything takes some getting used to). Both of them are keyboard-compabable.

Personally, I prefer RPGM2, as RPGM3's field map editor takes a lot of trial and error, and it's all too easy to make a mistake.

Actually, scratch that. RPGM1 FTW! :)

[EDIT:] Now how did I not notice that this topic was in the wrong forum?
