I've seen the time trials once with my dad. It is amazing to hear and see just a single car pass by at 200 mph. I can only imagine what it would be like with the full 33 car field.

My dad and I plan on making Race Day one of these years. Hopefully within the next few years.

I usually keep the race on TV in the background and focus the last 20 laps.

Any of you guys/ladies interested in the race?

40º off from something that I WOULD watch (an Indy 540 is a skating trick, for those of you who care to know if you already didn't). I've never been a fan of racing. The only time anything interesting happens is when a reck spontaniously appears. But then I feel bad for getting interested in someone who may very well have been hurt quite badly...

Q: How do you get a way with making fun of a Nascar fan?

A: When running away from him... turn right.

Actually, most Nascar drivers don't get hurt in their wrecks. It's mostly because of how the cars are designed. Now, the Indy cars or whatever (the thinner ones), those are the ones that you can get hurt in.

Indy 500? Woah. How'd I miss Indy 1 through 499?

^ :lol ^__^ good one.

there is a difference in cars? eek. this is more complicated than i thought. :\ i figured they all had that steel bars cage thing so that the drivers would be ok and stuff.

I might, if I were to watch any race it would be the Indy 500, though I think Indy road races are more interesting. NASCAR is boring as hell though, Indy's a little better since they go really fast, but unfortunately not that often in a real race, since you have to stop for turns and such. I'd love to drive an Indy car though, that would be so awesome.

And Sumi yes, Indy cars really don't have anything, they don't even have a roof :p. Basically it's like a big go cart, but traveling at 200+ MPH, and with a little more safety.

That would be something I'd say. (I did for 300)
Anyway, I'm not a racing fan as I said, but Indy does seem more interesting to watch.

I'm actually not a racing fan myself. I just like watching this race for a number of sentimental reasons.

It's like those who never watch football but watch the superbowl.

I'm from Indiana. I went to college in Indiana where I had friends who were interested in such things. My dad and I went to the time trials which was a bonding experience. My dad always had the race on TV in the background even though we didn't attentively watch it. I know he'll be watching it back home, etc.
