Hm. Maybe not?
Like many a great thinker have said, if you need to consider it, it's not love?
Just speculating.

I think you are both right.

Lantis is correctly point out the distinctions in family/friend love and amorous love.

The Gnasher is right poinitng out that amorous 'love' is not actually love.

So you are saying to toss your love around on a whim? Seems a little reckless to me... A good way to screw yourself over in the end.

Just speculating...

Nah... =P
It's not about asking "Am I in love?"
It's about saying "I know in love. What am I gonna do about it now?"

Heart never beats the brain in these matters. It's not like you can't get over a love if you have enough desire to do so.

The easiest way to find love is to to have a strange haircut and smell like sawdust and not wear expensive clothing. You can easily weed out the women who only want you for your looks or money.

That's not totally correct.

Everyone.. woman and man alike will look at the exterier for anything else. It's not like you can know their personality and motives at first glance.

For example. Let's reverse the rolls. Are going to try and pick up a girl who smells like sweat, has pit-stains, and very unformatted make-up?

No... the first attraction is always visually. Only in rare occasions like blind dates and such will contradict that.

Also, just because you look good doesn't mean you have money. Makes sense to me, anyways.

his sarcasm detector isn't the shiniest, eh? ;)

sort of on the same line as what you said thought, kratos, i figure, just be whatever way you are... and let people like or dislike you for that - so even if you had a strange haircut and smell like sawdust (personally i kind of like the smell of sawdust), it's just being the way you are kind of idea.

what is love to me?
noun - the feeling you get when someone you havn't seen in a while walks in and you're like ZOMG! ^__^ HI!
verb - the little things like sending random hello's or whatever. says 'i care ^^'

Do you guys think that men and women in general have a different idea of what love is?

There will always be discrepancies amongst how we define something, but ultimately I believe there is one common thread that ties all of our definitions. I do not believe the difference between man and woman's definition is significant enough to be considered different though. Man is by nature more wired towards sex as a pleasurable act while women are wired naturally towards procreation for the sake of continuing the human race. Love is something that I wish not to question, I have chosen it as my religion. I have gathered much data on it and I constantly gather more calculating new possibilities, but ultimately I come to the same conclusion:

Love is something I want, something I need, and something that I yield to when my own judgment goes against it. Love drives me to do most everything in my life. The knowledge that someday I will receive love for all these things I do. That is good enough reward for me. I have a preference for the kind of love I want, but love is love to me ultimately. At times I believe Maslow's hierarchy or needs is wrong in not having affection at the top, but I can not speak for others so I do not fully know.

I agree that men are more wired towards sex as pleasurable but I think women are more wired as caring for their offspring as pleasurable. I think BOTH are INDIRECTLY wired toward continuing the human race.

If love is something that you don’t wish to question, why did you start this topic. Was it to celebrate love rather than analyze it?

I'm leaving THAT question alone! :p

But I will say that western women and eastern women have different philosophies on love. I happen to like eastern better than western.

heh @ Ix's like for asians ^^

Hmm. In our little conversation here, we stillh aven't mentioned love for things or ideas rather than love for fellow human beings. Any takes on that? Cause I suppose the really 'more interesting' topic to discuss is people love =P

I made love to my gun before. However, it shot someone in the leg. The police report read, "Man shot in the leg by another's penis."

What is the difference between the two philosophies, Ix? (And I am asking that seriously.)
