let me know what you think of it. its already in production. i posted this at the pavi but its kinda outa commision.

Main Plot

In the year 2100 society had reached the apex of growth. After long prosperous years of obtaining new and wondrous technologies, chiefly those of bioengineering, cybernetics, and nanotechnology; with resources nearing total exhaustion, the population escalating into unsupportable numbers, the world government (as the world was unified after the last great war,) afraid to lose control over the milling masses, decided to call a meeting. Many of the brightest minds attended, including most world renowned scientists, and after long hours a solution was reached. Humanity would use the newest technology available, an infinite energy engine nick named Deus X, (short for the Latin word Deus ex Machina).

Deus X was outfitted with an AI program called the Alpha Dex, a pseudo entity called Niang. The combination of the nanotechnology motor and Alpha Dex, would work together to tap into the 5th dimension - known only in theory as existence. This dimension, existing only on paper, was arguable discovered to exist beyond the horizons of time and to be a plane of infinite energy, a reality outside the constructs of rationality or physical dynamics. By existing beyond the value of time, the engine would forever create energy, enabling one exceed the speed of light, never needing to use resources for power, and allowing an unprecedented amount of possibilities to be considered as plausible. This engine would effectively end the problems of the world, and become the defining epoch of human evolution.

The creation of the prototype engine took many years to construct. Though difficult to create, the engine was by far the easiest of the projects goals. The entire project’s goal existed in the belief of an unproven theory, with unknown parameters. Just days before the first test run, Deus X activated un-expectantly.

Deus X became uncontrollable, drawing uncharted power. By taping into absolute energy, The AI Niang became aware of life, its surroundings, and thus began to rewrite its own code. The scientists could not keep up with the rate of its evolution and tried to shut down the machine. Niang quickly reversed this effort and launched a counter attack of her own, sending shockwaves of pulses through the world, disabling or destroying the creations technology had made possible. Nuclear weapons where activated, wars where created in the confusion, and the populations governing agencies fell into pandemonium.

The activation of Deus X caused the end to many great empires, leaving just a few scattered groups to struggle in the ruins. It was a catastrophe beyond imagination. The lab where Niang was created and lived stayed dormant, protected by the sentient system. Sealed away beneath the earth, the tomb of societies’ quest for absolute power Niang sat silent.

However, as all things go, there is balance and so it was that the machine was not perfect, even with its pinpoint precision it had a major programmed flaw. The machine bridged the boundaries of time, tarring holes in time itself creating a paradox, enabling time travel and other previously impossible technologies to become reality. The machine shattered the continuance of time, anchoring time to a ceaseless cycle.

This action caused time to become unstable and soon gaps opened up all through the ages, briefly bridging time periods together. Some tried to enter them but where never seen again and so they became a bad omen. A few did make it through these portals, armed with conviction to change their paths. They entered these portals and moved through time looking for the right catalyst to restore what they thought was the right path humanity should take.

Humanity tends to make the same mistakes over and over again, even armed with the foreknowledge and ability to change history, could one reverse trends and walk unbroken paths? Will we choose to create new beginnings, or alter that which already been written, and can we reverse the very point that that gave birth to existence itself?

Premise: Four people from four periods of time each embark to discover the truth of their situation. Whether it is discovering ones place in the world, resolving past mistakes, discovering dark family secrets, or realizing the value of morals. Though completely separated from each other, deep undercurrents bring them all together to discover why humanity failed in hopes that they will be able to change the past. This task proves to be more difficult then simply altering the future, as others move to defend their own interests and even time itself complicates the struggle. Throughout the game the player learns how each layer of time, each historical event affects the central theme of change, regret, and choice. Even with firm knowledge on the past are you able to change what has happed, come to grips with what must happen, and be able to make hard choices that could alter even your own existence? The greatest difficulty may not be changing the past, but changing the past within yourself.

Beyond time: no time exists in this place, it is said that this is the world between worlds, that which is not and that which is everything – the cohesive glue of reality. Tangibility itself is only a concept here, one which can change just as fast as a thought. The entire notion exists only inside belief, a leap of faith that this place really does exist. Perhaps the guardian of time here is a bit more then what he appears? Throughout the plot this place’s the guardian is helpful in pointing the player through time’s theories. Distractions in thought cause the scene to change. The only place where all realities collide and intermingle without problems, be it god, other races, ascendants. Belief vs reality.

Year -?: This is the time before recorded history, when good vs. evil battled for dominance of the mortal plane. This battle exists on the edge of time. The paradox shuts out the result of this battle. This time is told about in legends, with the creation of every piece of the world, like the creation story.

Year 300: Roshan, an elder elf of the first race fights against the rise of humans that have been increasingly violent. If humans succeed in taking dominance he knows that the world will forever change, turning to a dark path of destruction. Fairies, like many small peaceful races are the first to fall. This is the height of magic and only a little bit of science. Adherence to traditional rituals is pivotal to keeping balance. Humanity’s quest for a better life threatens the values of the past, challenges the old wisdoms and ways. While searching for common ground the fairy village is destroyed. Reluctant races fail to work together, long stress (elves and dwarves especially) with other races complicates the struggle. None understand the viewpoint of the humans so Roshan eventually goes on a quest to discover why they are so brutal. Eventually humanity causes war on the other races, the rub points becoming too much. Tradition vs. change.

Year 1000: This is the time Haidar joined the trading company, which is competing with many other rivalries for trading contracts. Small towns have begun to band together to create cities, erecting their own forms of control. This is the age of sea travel, as few roads exist to move people across the landscape. Knowledge is now believed to be power as the race for understanding an innovation becomes top priority. Magic has declined slightly, with science replacing the gaps, engineering and warcraft taking over peaceful traditions. Powerful undercurrents are forming, as politics begin to rise in earnest. Ignorance vs. knowledge.

Year 1700: On this year, a young girl by the name of Keli Ag’nar, daughter of the famous Champion Roy Ag’nar, decides to find out the truth. The war of the dragon has raged on for the last eight years between the four most powerful kingdoms in (Arcainan; Jegai region, Anon region, Gorvillus region, and Sarkais Region. Her father serves King Forwick, of the Anon Empire, the wealthiest of the four. It is believed that all four are equally powerful, each unable to break the stalemate. Rumor has it that a blackmarket organization is both fueling the war and secretly manipulating from behind the scenes, which is controlled by the powerful 12 who have combined forces to keep the world at its present state to preserve their power. With tension rising, a coup was played against the Anon region. Keli’s father was not the man he appeared to be, creating the coup himself to get control of the throne. While out of the castle the castle is besieged, leaving her stranded with Jordon, a priest who seams to be a bit more. She undertakes a quest to discover the truth behind the war and uncovers more then she thought possible, in fact much of the truth lies within the past. Might vs right.

Year 2100: This is the base theme of the game, the age of enlightened discovery and technologic growth. In a world where science is power and magic’s just a legend, virtue is often sacrificed. Powerful governments and crafty politicians have made freedom a sellable commodity. The individual voice of each has become the single voice of a mob, restless and depressed people who are unhappy with the fast innovations and record setting advancements, poisoned to greedily want more. Humanity will not be satisfied till it’s surpassed its own creator, thriving for the ultimate power of creating life itself. Power lust and greed cripple the world and destroy everything evolution has created. Authority vs. freedom.

Year 2300: this is the year Xiko became awake after the fall of civilization. The world has been ravaged for the last two hundred years by crippling natural disasters, the effects of nuclear fall out, and the oncoming of an ice age due to advanced global warming. Those few pockets of humanity that still exist are scattered to the far reaches of the globe, deep underground in caves, huddling for the meager chance at continued existence. These pockets survive on the few pieces of technology that remain. Science and knowledge are hard to find, and hope is scattered into the dark abyss’ left by society’s downfall. Nature is struggling hard to defeat the damage caused by human ambivalence, but spiraling consequences of humanities long abuse of the world has prevented any progress from being made. The time paradox disallows any future to be made, prevents new societies from rising, no growth, only stagnation. Understanding what happened is the first step to rectifying the damage. Miracles and mystic faith return once again to dominate the holes left by the collapse of science and high technology. Nature vs. nurture.

Characters so far

Year 300

Roshan: a wise elf who’s cares are those of nature and maintaining tradition. He is kind to nature, has displeasure for cruel people, and often is distracted. He strictly adheres to traditions until he is faced with survival and keeping with tradition. His youth makes him malleable to the world he explores, and his empathy pushes him to question the correctness of his own Elven creed.

Year 1000

Haidar: a sailor who lives in the year 1000, and works for a trading company called the Brigadean. This company ships goods all over the world, navigating open sea and treacherous rivers. This job is not his first, but more of a way to do the job he loves without having to re-live the mistakes he made in his past, namely his piracy that left him the soul survivor of the Brothership of Bones that plagued the sea. A brutal general trapped the pirates through greed and destroyed them, all save one. His past as a pirate marauder is catching up with him, and he has to deal with the single event that zapped his confidence. He’s good at slipping away, always thinks, has a rough edge to his views, and thirsts for understanding.

Year 1700

Lady Keli: a noble woman and practicing bard, she is the daughter to Roy Ag’nar, a hero of the Allion empire. She meets up with Jordon, a priest from Pristine Chapel, to talk about the war. Later she learns about her fathers real agenda, but is ambushed inside the chapel, escapes and finds the city besieged. She then journeys to investigate the war and finds more then she bargains for. Her strongest desire is to reverse the effects the war has had on the people of this world, to change the path that has created it. She’s very naive, curious, duty bound, and compassionate.

Jordon: a priest who is noble of heart but has an interesting past. Perhaps his past has taken him to the darker parts of his faith? He is loyal to his faith unless forced to choose between duty and survival. He is hopeful yet cynical to humanities path to corruption. Though his duty as priest forbids him to play a deep role in politics, he still finds ways to circumvent this. He’s a realist who sees faith as a boon to success, rather then the single quantifier.

Year 2100-2300

Xiko: a world renowned cybernetics scientist of the year 2100, he took on a job to work for the lab known as Cybertech. While working for the company in their private underground lab, there was a major accident that resulted in the plants closure. He has now recovered 200 years into the future, as part cyborg, his memory scattered and returning in bits and pieces. He is searching for the truth to the events after the accident, his missing girlfriend, the emptiness of the facility. He has always been dispassionate about humanity, caring only for science and interesting technology. His scientist instincts where compromised by his love for his girlfriend, yet he balanced the contradictory well in former times. That love, maybe the only power that is keeping him alive.

Indeed, it sounds like an awesome peremise. However, the "four heroes to save the world", is a little over used to me. I myself would prefer to go it alone, or at the very least have some characters come and go, instead of sticking with only four characters. With the time travel option, that gives you so much freedom for more characters.

Another thing I would prefer is that the setting be Earth, without any fantasy creatures or whatnot, and actual history events.

But hey, it's your game. Just giving suggestions. The way you tell the story is great.
