Also enjoyed the chronicles of riddick/ pitch black -that whole thing. and i still need to read the books. apparantly they are VERY good according to a fanatic friend of mine.

Triple X was one i watched a few times. gotta say i do like Vin Diesel as an actor. he's a role player eh? like paper & pen type role player. i think he plays Earthdawn. but i could be horribly wrong. he probably plays more than one, but i _think_ primarily Earthdawn. like i said - might really not have a single clue.

Vin Diesel, a good actor, man not sure I hear that right. Possibly good looking actor, not that I would know, but certainly not good actor. Good enough to know to stay away from Fast and the Furiouser (pretty sure everyone knew better than to be in Fast and the Furiousest). I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion (hopefully not their real one in this case).

As for my favorite movies

Fight Club, because it's awesome and shallow on the surface, but very deep within.

then
Spiderman
Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
American History X
Cowboy Bebop
Dogma
Office Space
Super Troopers
Monty Python
(because for some reason if I type the name of that movie the server throws a 403 error, would have posted this like 5 minutes ago if it weren't for that).
And The Holy Grail

I think those responsible should be sacked.

Vin Diesel's best film is the one where he plays a babysitter xD

And Regal, spoiler-tag that ending, man. That's like the best clucking ending ever.

I always wanted to see Fight Club. But I'm afraid it's just gonna be some Hollywoodian typical film and not something worth seeing for the fighting itself (I'm a huge fan of that).

If you want REAL martial arts movies, the best of the best:
Bruce Lee's "Enter the Dragon" (1973 I think)
Mark Dacascos' "Only the Strong" (just because it features capoeira ^^)

yeah, i didn't spoiler tag it intentionally... XD

everyone else had, it just struck me as entertaining.

i need to go find a new source of entertainment. Like drying paint or something. I tagged it, anyway.

Well I don't know about hollywoodian, as Fight Club is only slightly more popular than cult classic. But yeah if you watch it for the fighting you'll be disappointed as it's as much about soap as fighting. But it is a great dark social commentary with some very sly humor thrown in. So I recommend watching it with the mindset that it's not a martial arts film. Also I think it has one of the best twist endings (though I guess if you know what to look for you could make the connection before the end), and is really a movie best seen twice (or more). Also it teaches you how to make nitroglycerin, and of course soap.

Just to point out, though the name is Fight Club, it does not try to be a martial arts movie, or claim to be one.

er.... over here, at least, Fight Club is hugely popular.

There's some very good reasons for that, though.

I guess you're right. But I also like other kinds of films un-martial arts. The hype's so great about Fight Club that I just have to see it someday O.o

But the bump was to complete the incomplete list above. If anyone is crazy enough to try a martial arts movie with little to none plot, here are the ones you should looks for:

Enter the Dragon (Bruce Lee, 70's)
Fist of Fury (ditto)

Only the Strong (Mark Dacascos, capoeira bonanza!)

Drunken Master II (90's. Jackie Chan in his best. And by 'best' I mean 'not influenced by Hollywood media')

Ong-Bak I & II for amazingly brutal and realistic Muay Thai action (you'll catch yourself saying 'ouch' a lot to these films)

And Kung-Pow: Enter the Fost for a marvellous parody of the genre ^^

you remember, the one with a 12 year old assassin Natalie Portman

watch the extended if you get the chance. much more innuendo (sp?) between leon and matilda but that was part of the story. The original US release cut out alot of great story and motivation.

@gnasher - i always thought that Vin Diesels best movie was Chronicles of Riddick. imo anyway.

and did someone say cult classic? heh, yeah Fight Club is prolly going to be considered that in a few more years... but may i take this time to mention Pulp Fiction XD and who could ever forget Rocky Horror Picture Show. <3

My favorite movie of all time was E.T. I have the special edition DVD and I've popped it in a couple of times since buying it. Awesome movie! A friend of mine gave me an unopened (still shrink wrapped) E.T. video. I doubt it's worth more than the plastic it's wrapped in, but I still think it's cool to have.

omg ^_^ men in tights. i didn't see that movie for like.. four years.. and i only saw part of it more recently. but it seems uberly great. it's sort of like napolean dynamite or team america world police or snakes on a plane in that you can never see it but still know the whole movie because everyone quotes it all the time >< but at least men in tights was acutally quite awesome! ^__^ yeah for that actor guy whose name i don't remember who was also in Princess Bride. w00t.
