I created Daniel's Quest I and Daniel's Quest II for RPG Maker 1. Not that anyone on here would know that though, since I never got a Dex Drive, so I never downloaded them on any website. Besides, since they were games I made for a friend of mine, they were full of inside jokes and quirky humor only friends can relate to.

Now, however, since getting RPG Maker 3 and a Action Replay Max drive, I have the chance to make a game that many people can enjoy since I have the chance to upload it on the Pavilion when I finish. I thought I'd just share a little about it to get some feedback. You can see by my avatar that I've been enjoying using Paint to make a copy of the world map.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Well, it's for RPG Maker 3
It's called Daniel's Quest III

It starts at Daniel's house in the middle of the night. As Daniel dreams about his adventures of years gone by, he and his wife (and baby) are all awoken when there is a loud pounding on the door. Daniel goes to the door to find that its a messenger from King Donald (the King from Daniel's Quest II) sent to request Daniel's presence in the throneroom. In the dead of night, the messenger guides Daniel to King Donald's court. King Donald tells Daniel that the Stone of Destiny has been stolen. He goes on to say that other things have gone awry as well and that Daniel had better check with the Reverend of Nevernear to find out more. After receiving some basic supplies and money, Daniel is sent back to Nevernear, where the adventure begins.

In Nevernear, Daniel learns about the Stone of Destiny and its significance. He also learns from the Reverend that some creature has ripped several pages out of the Holy Book of Eternity. Daniel's mission is clear, return the pages to the book of Eternity and find the the Stone of Destiny. Pretty cut and dry, right. There is a slight problem, Daniels wife, Christy, doesn't want him gallavanting around Nevernear to solve the problems for the King. She wants him home with her, his wife of just one year, and their new baby, Victoria. After Daniel promises her that he will always remember his vows to her and come by to visit her often, she reluctantly agrees to let him go....

Will Daniel be able to recover the stone of Destiny?
Will he have to choose between his family and his world of Nevernear?
Will the vows he made at his wedding hold true to the end?
Why has the volcano begun to smoke?
What's with the erasers in the schoolhouse?
Who is Samuel the Sage?
And those Oldenpots. What might be hidden inside?

All these questions and more will be answered when you play as Daniel Haney in Daniel's Quest III.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been working on the full game since November of 2005 and finally (thanks to Kittykicker and Perversion's playtesting help) I have a demo to show for it.

Check it out if you'd like. I just submitted it a few minutes ago. I'd be honored if you posted any comments, questions, criticisms or whatever you'd like about it here.

Sounds pretty good. I would download the demo, but I don't have a Max Drive yet. :P

Thanks RetnuhX for the encouragement.

I've uploaded a map of the world of Nevernear (made in paint :) ) for people to get the idea of what the field looks like.

Kittykicker - in the submissions topic wrote:

Awesome story! Easy to navigate! Light and well thought out battle scenes! Keeps you in suspense!

I give the demo a 10! :D

Thank you KittyKicker. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was nice private messaging back and forth with you about it. That was a real encouragement. Yay! 8)

And thank you TAI for helping me figure out about the .max extension.

Hey Vanquish. Cool. I'd love for you play it.

The reason you can't find it is that it's still in the submissions section. I'm sure it'll be put up on the front page soon.

Here's the link.

Feel free to PM me about anything. Any comments you'd like to say and post in this thread are more than welcome too. Thanks a lot, bro.

I finish playing your demo. :)

"Well, as in life, a quest unquested is not much of a quest at all."
This is the best line in the game but, is unquested a word?

Barg the Blue – Perfect
Quickstones – Perfect
Mountain Cave’s save point - Perfect
Would Map – Superb
The warp to Quickstones Key – Great
A lot of NPCs – Great
Quest 47 – Great
Travel Port – Good
Pet Cemetery - Good
Battles – Mediocre – the battles where not fun for me - :(
Donald’s Knight Guard – I wish he told me exactly who to talk to in town
Poor Marty - :(
I hope the baby does not fall off the bed - :(
My Final score for this demo is – 8.2/10 – 82% - Great

I can’t wait to play the full game :)

Hey Vanquish,

Thank you so much for playing the demo. That really means a lot to me. I really appreciate the comments, too. The fact that you enjoyed it is the best part, of course. Who wants to make a demo that isn't fun.

Oh, and about the teetering bed baby. If I put her farther in on the bed, she just didn't look right and Daniel couldn't trigger her to talk.

Oh, and no "unquested" is not a word as far as I know. It is now, right? :)

That being said, what can I do to make the battles more enjoyable?

Well with that in mind you could have maybe set up an invisible event. But I think its cool too the way it is.
That and the baby is not really what makes the demo fun. Its the story and wondering whats lurking deeper in the woods. :)

This is kind of late. I apologize. But I do try to keep my promises, even
if I take a while to get around to it.

Played the whole thing. I wasn't expecting it to be so brief, but what's
here is nothing short of amazing!

Where to start? Well, there are so many skillfully designed special effects
here, I felt like I was watching a Star Wars movie. It was mesmerizing.
All of the effects are deftly woven into the action, and the whole thing
appears to have been masterfully planned out. Loved the flashback
scene! Also loved the use of body language during conversations. Loved
the pots and myriad interactive elements. I'm trying to think of something
I didn't like.

The town is a thing of beauty. I think I spent two days of game time there
before finally venturing out onto the map. There's so much to do, it kept
me busy going back and forth talking to people and doing things, looking
for things. Loved the sage! That guy rocks! Loved the pet cemetary.
You are a master of character interaction and interesting passive
gameplay (non-battle related). There's so much going on here, and this is
before I've even seen what lies beyond the town! Way past cool, man.

The deco is absolutely fabulous. You used boxes to create a counter top
in a house! There's a lot of inventive uses for objects that I would've
never thought of. Extremely creative. Very impressive.

I love the way you use multiple regions to recreate a single region,
presumably to get around the 20-event limit per area. The cemetary is a
great example, and it's deftly pulled off.

Your attention to detail is impeccable, especially with the objects we can't
interact with until the full version is complete. Being told that "this object
isn't available yet" went a long way toward stemming confusion.

The battles were challenging, but you give us access to everything we
need to get through it. I love the "no battle" zones. Allows me to get
where I'm going and explore without being constantly interrupted. And
when I feel like fighting monsters, I can always stray off the path. This is
how gaming with random encounters should be. The use of non-repeating
events in a dungeon is spot on. Things there couldn't be better.

Love the field map. Love the rocky mountain. Love the volcano off in the
distance! Awesome work, dude!

What really makes this game work, though, is the gameplay. My hat is
off, Master Pagerron. You are a gifted individual, blessed with talent.

Wow. Crythania! Awesome. Thank you so much for these comments. Man, this is a super encouragement to get on with finishing my game. (Oh, I wish I had some more free time lately) Thank you so much.

Knowing the care you take with the games you make, I really value any input from you.

Yay!!

----------------------------
I'm glad you liked the little notices about things not being available until the full game. That comes thanks to Kittykicker and Perversion, both of whom spent time playtesting the demo and giving me valuable comments.

Thanks jerbils. :)

Well, Ixzion (or Gamestop) can hook you up rather nicely. ;)

Seriously though, there really are lots of cool games available for download for RPG Maker 3 and it's worth having just for that reason.

-Whispers in the Woods (by Vonwert)
-lots of mind puzzles, interesting story.

-Series 1: Destiny Beckons (by Perversion)
-lots of battles and items galore!

-Shadows of Torayu demo (by Hitogoroshi)
-I wish he'd get on with making the full game. Very well done.

-The Raiders of Lekunder (by Crythania)
-just played several hours of it so far. Not a glitch in site, and fun to play.

and that's just to name a few.

Thanks Ixzion. Yeah, I noticed that 1ce's preview has been featured on the first page for a little while. I really appreciate the publicity. :)

It's RPG Maker 3. It's only one slot.
