Marihuana kills your neurons.

Which is a popular saying here, usually used for joking and funny purposes. I even think it technically doesn't kill any neurons, but one way or another, popular saying reflect the wisdom of observation. You can never underestimate them.

He walked in capoeira class yesterday. I hadn't seen him in over 3 months. He even seemed to have gotten fatter.
I come up to greet him. Misty look in the eyes. Doesn't seem to remember me. He stares through the window.
Avuzeedamoo, he asks. I ask, what. HAve you seen the moon, he says. He keeps staring. Contemplate it, he says. I leave, he stays there, just staring with misty eyes.
The boy could barely move right during class. He tried to stay in the pace of the rest of the students, but obviously couldn't. After 15 minutes he was already out of air. And still 75 minutes to go.
Time passes and he spends it recovering from an apparent exhaustion.
In the end of the class, when we all sat in a circle to hear to the usual words of the teacher and then play in a friendly capoeira roda which closes the day, the teacher spoke.
"You noticed how he left? He just came up to me and said he was leaving. You know what's the cause of that, don't you?"
Man, of course we do. Of course we do. Everyone knows what it is.
"When you're eating pork and caviar, everyone stays by you. It's really easy, you know. Things get complicated when you must chew bones to survive. Then you notice there's no one there for you."
Wise words, teach.
"What happened to him, is because his 'friends' [emphasis on the quotation marks] out there don't help him. On the contrary, they even make it worse."
Of course. Everyone has seen them, everyone knows who they are. We all live more or less in the same area, anyway.
"What we gotta do is help him. His friends in here, we gotta help him. Or else, we're gonna lose him.

We are gonna lose him. And what's the worse that could happen?"
We know, teach. What's the worse that could happen, that is. We know.

He even had gotten fatter.

...and tobacco kills you. (insert soviet russia joke here)

I don't smoke anything anymore. But I do find it silly that you can buy tobacco which can give you cancer... but marihuana is illegal and all it does is well... make you hungry.

GLUTTONY>DEATH!

Anyway, a slightly humorous but interesting read.

Yeah, the danger of marijuana is super-overplayed. Personally, I'd prefer it if someone lit up a joint in front of me than if it was a cigarette. We're all drugees, just in different ways. Caffeine is nearly as addictive as tobacco, and 90% of prescription meds are potentially addictive. Marijuana is just the new pariah. What the heck happened to all the anti-crack commercials? Meth is a problem now too...

Point is, marijuana is kinda dangerous. So are guns, cars, dogs, and chicken bones. At least you can't kill someone else with weed.

P.S. I don't do illegal drugs, but have five prescriptions so I'm basically a drugee.
