I call it "Veil of Power," and Im using RPGM3
Heres the start of the storyline Ive come up with
..................

In a world stuck in what seems like an eternal feudal war, a single mercenary warrior has arisen as a mysterious force to be reckoned with. Appearing only 3 years after the corrupted throne of Delnaga overthrew the Royal Family in secret, and denounced their Prince, at which point he disappeared from the knowledge of all people. Go on a journey as the mighty Mercenary Beolance, and unite a continent broiled in turmoil.

....................

Im gonna start on my own, but anyone who wants to help is welcome :P
Heres to what could possibly be one day hailed as neat ;)

Gl! If you need anything just ask around. With all of our random expertise I'm sure you'll find an answer to any question.....Just don't ask me. :D

Btw, the story sounds good so far. Something I'm sure might draw some interest around here. And again GL!

well, after day 1 of production Im proud to say Ive done near nothing and already took up 6% of my first memory card :P But basically all I have done is the prolouge, and Ive started work on the first 2 important charachters you meet (Beolance and his dog Shadowfox :P ) and the first map (Delnaga and surronding region) It appears its gonna be a long journey to perdition, but Im willing to take that ride on the Highway to Hell, even if it means Killing Time and Rock and Roll all night and Party every day :P

Well, it sounds pretty cool so far.
And if you wanted some assistance, I had a few ideas.

Maybe a cool idea would be: how did the forever war start? You can explain in the prologue or, even better, tell it during an important cutscene.
And, if this is a never-ending war, why not call it the Forever War?

Welcome to the mag, I hope I gave you some ideas. :lol

okay so, I can already tell some of these limits just might piss me off, is there any known methods for having a party reserve so you can have more than 4 people in a party? Just kinda thinkin a little down the road here

I don't use RPGM3, but probably. But I'm quite sure there's not built-in feature and you'd have to program it yourself.

Dunno the specific codes for RPGM3, meh. But I'm sure someone around here does :D

There are event codes for removing party members and adding party members.

What kind of reserve are you talking about?

I tried and it was way to complicated, keeping that back party would require being able to change events with other events, and I cant figure out how to do that :( Anyways, I have other issues to work on right now, like how terrible I am at map making :P but on the plus side, I have the first 5-15 minutes of gameplay done, including the first miniboss :P

Cool.

How long are you hoping the gameplay will be?

lol, I'd prefer cliched stories over something abstract like robot rape. XD

I personally think it's quite good... I'm actually a pretty big fan of traditional RPG type stories. So good luck to you, sir.

@Bo- I was hoping for a pretty long game, but I think it might be a bit much for me to handle on my own, considering I cant design maps for sh*t and dont really know how to connect multiple fields together :P

@ clicheness- Im a bit of a softie for the old style stuff :P

Of course its an Rpg. But to me, an rpg has to go beyond those reused stories. Like Lantis's SOE. It has a veeery in-depth story. And thats what makes it awesome.

(Hows the game going anyway?)

Yeah, I wouldn’t get too discouraged. Unlike previous RPG Maker’s (especially 2), you can actually finish a game with RPGM3 once you get to learn its limitations, :lol but you need to be flexible and creative. After all, you can’t even call “goldâ€

I hope your game creation keeps going well. One way that you can connect multiple fields together is by using dungeons with secret entrances. You enter the dungeon from one field and you exit in another.

Clicheness - In my opinion, cliches are fine (just add an interesting little twist to make them your own).

Also, who says your first game can't be short (an hour or two). If it's fun to play, that might be well worth it.

Actually, a cliche game is a good way to get used to the software since you are limited by its capabilites.

Your story sounds like it invovles battles, landscapes, and storytelling, all things that RPGM3 is designed for. You can spend more time translating your game from your mind into the game (and thus learning the software) rather than trying to figure out from the start how to make the game look like a space battle or play like a farm simulator.

yeah, that stuff sounds neat, I hope I can get to that stuff later on :P I kinda took a break today, cause frankly, the amount of time I had spent vs. amount accomplished did kinda depress me a bit. workin on this stuff can kinda take it out of ya :P and is it just me, or does that editor music start to get kinda annoying after awhile...

You can change the editor music from the title screen "options" to any other song or turn it off.

It sounds awesome! You should buy RPG Maker XP (If you don't already have it) because I dont have RM1, 2, or 3, so I can't play any of your games and any on the mag, unless my friend loans me his RM2 and 3, and if I can get the PS2 emulator to work....so, try making it on RMXP too, if you could.
