What are some speed runs you've tried, completed or want to do?

I've done 2 speed runs out of all my games. Those are a speed run of Metroid: Zero Mission which ended in 1:37.

And a speed run of CastleVania: Symphony of the Night which I can't remember how long that took.

Currently I'm working ona another speed run of Metroid. I'm trying to get a time of 1:15.

So how about all you guys?

Same here. I like to enjoy the experience while I have the chance. One reason I hate how they have a special item in FF9 that you can only get if you reach it in the last dungeon in under twelve hours.

under 12 hours?! I'm on disc 2 (Almost 3) at like 22 hours!

Edit: The Metroid run didn't work out... I don't know what I did wrong, I was at 1 hour by the time I had gotten to Ridley.

Yeah it's kind of hard. Part of the key is to skip every cinematic.
OH so worth it, though.

I'm sure an item the grants NO ENC is handy as well.

BTW, If you did that, that's hella tight. Props dude.

I thought that you could also get that item if you play through the game twice, but only if you got 100% in the first (or preceding) run through.

Oh, that wasn't me.

And that wasn't Game Genie. That was a mix of save states and lowerd FPS.

Speed runs don't have to be about skill all the time. Sometimes it's about seeing how far you can push the game's mechanics, or just putting on a good show...

And sence when was this thread just about what you specificaly have done?

Meh... whatever.

*wanders off*

... The only time I remember ever trying to beat an RPG in as little time as possible was once many years ago with Final Fantasy VII, and I think it was only in about 24 hours ..... probably not even that hard to play through in less time than that.

Hmmm the speed runs I've done have only been in first person shooters and fighting game bosses.

I'm quite fond of RPG speed runs.

To see Chrono Trigger beaten in 4 hours and 20 minutes is just awesome.

I mean, it's glitched like hell... but it is very interesting to watch.

The best, by far is seeing the OoT speedrun. I mean, wow... I'll try to find a vid... any speed run fan needs to see it.

::edit::

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... T+speedrun

Unfortunately you'll have to watch it in segments. Though that may suck, it's still awesome.

I have never attempted a speed run except for Halo 1 and that was on co-op legendary... but we got distracted doing the wart-hog grenade jump trick. Oh well. But, because of this thread, now I am considering a Star Ocean 2 speed run. Thats one to think about. BTW What are your best SO2 times?

Lol..I'm with you on that facts.....I think the only notable speed run I've done is SF2 in a little less than 5 hours.

I'm with Lantis...I mean...matvhing the mario one that's done in like 11 minutes..you know it was all save stated....But it's still awesome to watch....Honestly doing stuff like that still takes a lot of work. And I'm rather impressed when someone puts the effort into the game like that.

Not however, a big fan of speed runs that are just giant glitches.

:edit OMG LOl.. That is amusing as hell. OK. I work as a SEO manager. For those that don't know SEO is search engine optimization. So right after I posted in this topic I was surfin around reading my daily site. And I go to Matt Cutts blog (he's basically the guy seo people worship from google) And lo and behold what do I find! http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/

That's right....Matt Cutts is sitting there talking about speed run :P
So amusing

Ok I just ordered an Adaptec AVC-1400 GameBridge (10 bucks at geeks.com) to be able to show my best times. Hopefully I can take care of SO2 within the 5-7 business days it will take to get here.
If not I will just bust out with some old school favorites of mine, like Link's Awakening.
