OK, so I was hanging out with a friend last night and we decided to sit and watch a movie. We were rummaging through what she had and I noticed the movie Crash, written and Direct by Paul Haggis (if I remember correctly). I'd heard great things about it, and while I got to see million dollar baby (and was incredibly impressed mind you), I had never gotten the chance to see Crash.

The first few lines (spoken by Don Cheadle's character Detective Graham) are some of the best I've heard, not just in a long time, I'm talking about ever.

"It's the sense of touch. In any real city, you walk, you know? You brush past people, people bump into you. In L.A., nobody touches you. We're always behind this metal and glass. I think we miss that touch so much, that we crash into each other, just so we can feel something."

------------------------

The movie, if you haven't seen it, is really a roller coaster of emotions. I watched it last night and I still can't get most of the scenes out of my mind. At times, depressing, at times uplifting, and at all times gripping, this movie has honestly shot straight onto my top list.

If you have never seen this movie, I recommend strongly that you take the time to see it. While many of the ideas in it will probably be familiar to many here (I consider this to be a relatively intellegent and understanding crowd :P ) they are delivered with such excellence and impact that I'm still left with the aftershocks thundering through my mind.

Note, this is not the all time greatest movie in the world. And also note that it, while base on a serious thought, is quite amusing at times. But enough of that. Watch the movie. And after you've seen it, or if you already have, share what you thought about it.

--------------------

My favorite scene might possibly be the original one between Ludacris and Larenz Tate especially the
Anthony: Look around! You couldn't find a whiter, safer or better lit part of this city. But this white woman sees two black guys, who look like UCLA students, strolling down the sidewalk and her reaction is blind fear. I mean, look at us! Are we dressed like gangbangers? Do we look threatening? No. Fact, if anybody should be scared, it's us: the only two black faces surrounded by a sea of over-caffeinated white people, patrolled by the triggerhappy LAPD. So, why aren't we scared?
Peter: Because we have guns?
Anthony: You could be right.
Great movie :P

I'd like to point out that Kajak dissed me last night for this "friend".

I was betrayed. Betrayed by him for... what did he say she had? Wasn't it "legs of eternity"?

Lmao....who I watched the movie with was not important my dear Lantis. But yes..I did say she had "Legs of Eternity".

But, I digress, I'll have to make a different topic about that. This topic is devoted to that incredibly exceptional movie, not the incredibly exceptional pair of legs :P

Crash? You mean, the movie?

I'll be honest with you... I didn't like that movie one bit.

Yeah, perhaps most of the things portrayed there are true. But I still think of that movie as just another 'Amercian Paranoia' movie, like hundreds of other ones around.
Diss me if you want, but y'know, I'm tired of that kind of thing. Really really tired.

If that's all you were going to say, then you shouldn't posted at all unless you had something to add.

I didn't really see it as an american paranoia thing. I mean..I know that's what the first line makes it out to be.....Honestly I love the movie from a Chaos theory perspective. Each and every thing that happened ended up effecting someone else and in turn more people. I think it's something serious to note. While the entire flow might not have changed drastically, the small part (how things came to pass) could have been drastically changed if one person had at any time made a different decision. I think life is actually like that. We might not change all the final destinations....but we can drastically change the paths we take to get to those destinations. And if you're like me, and think that the journey is just as, if not more, important than then destination, then this movie can totally rock you...in good and bad ways.
