A while ago you may recall I was working on a game called Dragon's Edge. Well, after it was scrapped I kept the file of the game on my computer.

I would like anyone who can to try the game and see why It wasn't fun to make and why it was scrapped.

By the time you get to the second town I'm sure you will realize why.

The game is for RPG Maker 1

Anyway, here is the file:

well, i played it. right through to beating the merman, at least. at that point, i suspect the game ended. or ePSXe crashed. one of the two >_<

welllll... it started off, tbh, more than a little tricky. slimes that take three turns to kill were hitting the main character for 3 damage a turn, he has some 40-odd health and the slimes often come in threes.

also, they're totally inescapeable at L1. so you have to keep saving and hoping you don't run into more than two slimes until you reach L2.

after that point, it becomes exponentially easier to kill them *shrug* i levelled up to 6 before carrying on, in case of any more excessively uber enemies later on. By level 4, they were often critting and attacking for 0 and i was capable of killing them in one attack. However, the only way to get past even L1 is to get the restore from the castle (i couldn't find the guard tower, let alone the item within it...) and play in exactly a certain way. While i enjoyed the challenge of working out exactly how it took you only 20 minutes to finish the game, it might not be the best way to introduce people to a game. I kinda like that kind of puzzle, so it was no big worry. ^_^

yeah... i fought some slime, bought some armour, battered the forest boss, who to be fair would probably have been a tough opponent if i were a couple of levels lower...

and on into the next town. Everything looked very nice, i mean... you'd laid out the towns and dungeons well.

that maze was awesome. I got through it first time without backtracking, but only because i went exactly the way i would've gone had i made the maze myself. turned out to be a good call, needless to say... i was kinda happy ^_^. It was, i have to admit, a rather large maze.

the battles on the boat were more balanced, though far easier than the initial slime levelling. I figured that i went from the end of the forest to the end of the boat in about 5 minutes. I finished with L8 characters.

I enjoyed playing, actually. mostly because apart from the initial struggle to survive, i didn't really notice any flaws at all. Except perhaps that the king asks you to go get gels for him and never realises you have some. *sigh*

i enjoyed it. ^_^ i could keep talking, but i've got a lecture to go to. i'll cya on the Mag Chat anyway.

but yeah. thanks for sharing =P

Heh, you got farther than me... for some reason, the slimes really seemed to crit more often than not. So I never mannaged to get to level 2...even with the restore from the catstle.
