Let's see, how should I put this? ePSXe is probably the second most useful tool for RPGM1 users, next to the DexDrive. Unless you have a video input card to plug your PS2 into your computer, it's the only way we can grab screenshots of our masterpieces. RPGM2 and 3 user are out of luck without the card, of course, but I digress. Unfortunately, ePSXe is very much glitchy, which I understand is typical for an emulator. Forget that the sound quality probably won't be as good. That's not important. The problem is that ePSXe has problems with graphics. Depending on your settings, you'll either have poorly rendered special effects, have the screen black out instantly instead of fade out, have battles without a background or battles that look like this lovely piece of work, and so forth. Beyond graphics, I've had this thing darn near try to crash my computer. So much for opening it in a window instead of fullscreen.

So, I pretty much swore that I'd never use it again, intending to just buy that video card dealie sometime for all my screenshot purposes. However, I couldn't resist using ePSXe one last time to grab these two screens of the most-improved cutscenes over the old Slayers' Reign demo for your enjoyment. :D

For those not keeping track, the first screen is from the completely redone pre-title introduction. The second shot used to be a scene that consisted of you sitting down on a chair and having about 20 straight boxes of text and nothing else; now it involves something like 60 Take-Overs. :P

Am I spoiling anything from grabbing possibly the best two screencaps I can right now? Maybe a little, but these two cutscenes are much more interesting to see in action. :draygone:

All you do is put your RM1 copy in your computer Duelpro.

I have to agree with ePSXe being pretty bad... in fact, it won't work on my computer. It just streches my screen for a very long period of time.

And nice screen shots Dray. In your game when the first pic happens. are the characters going to move?

Nope. Screen suddenly appears with "da-boom" sound effect, and fades out. Since you can't move more than one unique character at the same time in RPGM1, I needed to find some way to make this scene without "character A walks across screen, then character B does, then monster A does, and then monster B does, all while the rain sits frozen in mid-air", which doesn't quite give the mood I was wanting to achieve. So I came up with this idea, put it in, and called it awesome (for RPGM1, at least).

Do me a favor.... elaborate on your rain.

Is it just a character model (at least 1 of the 9 frames) just kind of sitting there, only duplicated several times?

Yup, a single frame of a sprite, duplicated around the screen. The rain just sits in place, but it doesn't matter since these are supposed to be still shots, anyway.

That's a good idea... and for a still shot, it really give it a nice effect. Props.
