Now, everything goes. Anything about your favorite characters, but NOT game ones, mind you. We already have a whole separate topic for that. Books, films, animes, the rest. The whole rest.

I'll start.

From mangas:
Pretty much the whole cast from Dragonball Z (yeah, the manga is just one battle after the other, but seeing those characters grow and get married and stuff, they really start making part of you).
Yoh and Anna from Shaman King, because they make the best couple. Ever.
Yusuke from Yu Yu Hakusho, because he's one of the only characters in manga history to remain neutral (and not stupidly good) through the whole story.

Films:
That I can remember now, the Keating character in Dead Poets Society just pwned.
In Kung-Pow: Enter the Fist, the Chosen One is perhaps the coolest main character in a parody to be ever created.
Probably more, I just can't remember it now.

Books:
From Good Omens, Crowley and Aziraphale. They make the best pair of friends. OF course, being demon and angel, that's kinda hard.
And more. Gonna remember it later. Gotta go now.

Hmmmm

From manga/anime: The cast of Naruto, primarily Shikamaru. Ummmm... Yuko from xxxholic. Syaoran and Sakura from Tsubasa: Resevior Chronicles. And probably a shitload more than that lol. OMG. Mokona, from and of the mangas or animes that Mokona shows up in lol.

Movies: Ummm. Not really any specifics here.

Books: Raistlin from Dragonlance. The characters of Song of Ice and Fire. And the characters of the Kushiel Legacy, primarily Anafiel.

Nice thread btw.

Manga: I don't watch much manga, so I've got nothing.

Movies: Death from Meet Joe Black was a pretty cool cat, mostly because he just wanted to learn about the world he was working in. I also liked Helena from Mirror Mask, but I just have a thing for artsy girls.

Books: Shadow from American Gods was kind of an idiot, but I liked him anyway. And Tommy from Blood Sucking Fiends and You Suck is also kind of a new concept.

Why not...

From manga/anime: Shino from Naruto, Chi from Chobits, Dante and Vergil from DMC Code 1 & 2 (I don't own them yet, bit I've read enough to know I'll like it), Ashitaka form Princess Mononoke, and Lantis from Magic Knights Rayearth.

Movies: (I'm just going to go by actors instead) Bruce Campbell, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrel, Owen Willson, Hugh Jackman, Shaun Bean, Sir Ian McKellan.

Books: Sir Gerard from Dragonlance, Most of the cast from Lord of the Rings, not too many ppl from the cast of the Chronicles of Narnia... Peter being the best.

Out of all three catagories, I'm sure there are plenty more... but I'm to lazy ATM... I'll update later.

From anime/manga:
1. Eagle Vision from Magic Knights Rayearth
2. Misuzu from Air TV
3. Don Vodka from Knights of Ramune (but this anime in and of itself is really weird and has a lot of pointless nudity)

From movies:
1. Brom from Eragon, ... incidentally about the only aspect of the movie that was better than the corresponding aspect in the book.
2. Will Dormer from Insomnia
3. Count Duku from Star Wars: Episode 2

From works of literature:
1. Dalamar from Dragonlance: War of Souls
2. Marshal Medan from Dragonlance: War of Souls
3. Kitti Ping from Dragonsdawn

anime/manga
hehe... @Kajak... Shikamaru is stupidly popular, but there is a good reason why. He reminds everyone of themselves, i think. Or maybe that's just me.

As it is, i don't watch that much anime or read that much manga. It's more popular over your side of the water than mine, by a HUGE way. Byakuya is kinda cool, though. Like... very cool XD (Bleach)

films

er... i absolutely loved Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Truman Show. XD

... Sean Bean is always entertaining, except for in Ronin. >.< urgh.

ZOMG Simon Pegg. THE MAN IS A GENIUS! Shaun of the Dead is... well, its not bad. Spaced is pure unalloyed awesomeness, even if it is a series and not a film. XD

I want to live in the house from Spaced.

... i think Hugo Weaving is pretty cool, too. I think he fitted Agent Smith better than Elrond, though...

and finally, Frank.

books

... heh. this could take a while. off the top of my head;

- Roland of Gilead (the Dark Tower series)
- Orr (catch-22)
- The Dark man, Nick Andros and the Judge (the Stand)
- Smeagol
- Garet Jax (The Wishsong of Shannara, i think.... #3, anyway)
- Hilde (Sophie's World... while Hilde was not that awesome in herself, the fact that she existed is totally worth mentioning)
- Timothy Cavendish (Cloud Atlas... his section of the story is so cool.... i mean, seriously, unbelievably so. One of the most entertaining things i've ever read.)
- Ridcully (from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. one of the best of a great cast ^_^)

i could carry on, but won't ^^

And again, you are right. Why are you always right?
I totally see myself in Shikamaru. Had forgotten about him. ^^

Ridcully is great. I've only 'seen' him in Moving Pictures and Reaper Man, though. Any books newer than those I don't have. =(

By the way, by far the better character in Discworld is Death. He is just great. ("Bill Door" HA! :lol)

Twoflower got me going, too, in the first books.
And the Librarian. "Ook."

That's a great one, too. Those eyes... He's really an impressive character. The model and idol for any would-be anti-hero.

By the way, Lantis' Crew seems to be very connected to Dragonlance =P

From Animes/Manga:

Chi, Chris from Sonic X, and of corse, Knuckles, from Sonic X.

From Films:
Napolian Dynamite and Sonic The Hedgehog (Look into The Sonic The Hedgehog Movie)

From Books:
Klaus from the 'The Series Of Unfortunate Events.'

Yay for Series of unfortunate events! i originally had a collection of them first five but then i burned my room down and so i don't have 1-5 anymore. eventually i will buy them though and then the collection will be complete!! dont' have number 13 yet but i have read it - borrowed from a good friend ^__^

from mangas:

Watanuki from xxxHolic, Excel of course from Excel saga, I seriously love ALL the characters from Yakitate! Japan - that series is amazing all the way through. well as far as i've got so far anyway. which has mostly been watching the anime. I also really liked Elfen Lied - the main character Lucy - not the Nyu version but the Lucy version. then there is always TMNT ... can't decide there really.. but who doesn't love Michaelangelo eh? yay pizza ^__^

films:
I love the doors programmed to have a happy disposition in HGTTG, technically it's a book but the way the movie did it made it so much fun.
I really like Miranda Otto as Eowyn. I think they definitly cast the right actor for the role, but the way they directed her wasn't very accurate for the Eowyn in the book. They made her a lot more womanly and soft in the film.
I agree with regal that Hugo Weaving was a much better agent smith than an Elrond. Though I can't neccessarily think of anyone else to play Elrond *shrug*
I also thought Kate Blanchett as Galadriel was stunning. I think she is gorgeous though my brother highly begs to differ ;_;
Also i thought Viggo Mortenson did a good job as Aragorn. He really got into the role and put life in his character.
Overall i guess LOTR was simply a very well cast movie. so it's hard to pick favourites in it. i could talk about every character and go on for ages.
You can tell i've seen it a million times eh. *sigh*
I really like Alex the lion in madagascar. and loosey goosey in Chicken Little.
Frank - Regal when you said i don't know who you meant.. but it made me think of Frank the bunny from Donnie Darko. Great character, very spooky. Scared the bejeebus out of my friend the first time we watched the film then turned the light out hehehe. very effective character.

Books:
Bilbo - awesome character in The Hobbit. he was so funny. like an old confused grandpa type funny. as if life and adventure just sort of happened upon him and he was left standing in the middle of it going 'now where did i see the exit? was it.. left? no right? or maybe... *Scratches head*'
Coraline - book by Neil Gaiman. very good.
A few characters from the Gormenghast Trilogy:
first off - Steerpike. right from the start i liked Steerpike. you can tell just by the way he is that he is going to be trouble. but i really like him, even when he did cause lots of trouble and whatnot i liked him.
Fuschia - let's just say i really like her and leave it at that so i don't spoil anything for those who havn't read it. since most people prolly havn't. i like her characters journey in the book. it's interesting.
Mr. Rottcodd - the man who lives up in the tower and doesn't really know anything about the rest of the goings on of anything at all. he just polishes the carvings in the hall of bright carvings every day and lives up in his little tower. an out of touch with the rest of the story character - kind of a birds eye view on the whole plot.

i've typed enough for one post now... yup.

yeah, that was the Frank i meant. Anyone who's seen Donnie Darko tends to think of him when they hear that name, i suspect. Or at least, i was testing the theory out... and it totally just passed XD

i can't believe you went through half the list of characters from LOTR and didn't mention Boromir. imho, he was both directed and cast PERFECTLY.

^____^

I know what you mean about Elrond, though. It's hard to imagine anyone else in Hugo Weaving's place, which i suppose is a sign of a good actor, isn't it?

Something that definetly shouldn't be left out of this thread:

Ross, Joey, Chandler, Rachel, Monica and Phoebe from you-know what ^^
Because they have the BEST comedy test of all times. And kept it up for 10 whole seasons.

I tend to like characters that in many ways are trying to do the best they can in the environments in which they are in, contrary to how everyone else around them is behaving, but in which the environment is very overpowering like Carlito Brigante (Carlito's Way), Sam Rothstein (Casino), and Tony Manero (Saturday Night Fever).

LMAO...actually I think I'm more like Kiba or Naruto then anyone else...Honestly there are just a few things that make like like Shikamaru so much...One being his ability in strategy that I wish I could duplicate. Two being his slogan (the japanese "How Troublesome" not the english "What a Drag"). And three...well..this one is kinda odd...Shikamaru Nara is from a family that tends deer. My roommate always says that the deer should be able to use shadow bind. So one deer can shadow bind and enemy and another can kick the hell out of the enemy.

The thing about it is that my roommate always does this using the peter Griffin (flying through the air) laugh...so it's really funny..So every time I see Shikamaru I think of it and laugh...soooooo...he's my favorite cause I get the most humor out of him...as well as him kicking ass :D

My favorite anime: The Chairman from Genshiken. He really has a way of sneaking up on you. AND CREEPING THE HELL OUT OF YOU!

Manga: Matt Green of Dramacon. He is always rude on accident, a quality I share.

Book: Lawrence Newton from Fallen Dragon. He is alot smarter than you first give him credit for.
