The problem with RM1 as of now is that it's almost impossible to track down PS1 memory cards. They simply don't exist for sale anymore. I'm personaly glad I stocked up before they made the PS1 effectivly abandonware.

There are many aftermarket cards around, but staffy does have a point. Glad I stocked up too.

Has any one tried to plug a PS2 memory card into a PS1, and see if the memory card is smart enough to realize where it is? If PS2 memory cards can save PS1 data as SONY used to claim, we may be able to start making 8 MB RM1 games.

::edit:: I just gave it a shot and fount that PS2 memory cards lack a notch in the exposed curcuit board that PS1 cards have. the space is taken up on the PS2 card by an extra pin.

Thank you all for your incredibly helpful input. I think I'm going to track down a copy of RPGMaker 2 when I get a chance.

Thumbs up for RPGM2 and RPGM3! I've kinda been playing RPGM3 via my friend brings it over and I work on a game. I deleted it though because my memory card was down to like 1MB or 2MB because I have:

Star Ocean: Till The End Of Time
The Sims 2

And a whole bunch of crap.

Soon as I get the chance, I'm gonna have to remember to stock up on PS1 memory cards. I wanna have a physical copy of my whole game, instead of having to run back and forth between my DexDrive every time I wanna change cards.

Good luck. Like I said they are almost impossible to find in stores. You might get lucky if you happen to live near an EB, Babbages, GameStop, or KB, that told the head office to shove it and kept used PS1 paraphanailia instock.

Other wise you may have to buy on line.

::edit:: Hey! Check this out! http://psxmem.raphnet.net/

Pretty spiffy me thinks. :)

::Edit#2:: Amazon.com has PS One memory cards. They are $25 + S&H. :\

I choose RPGM3!Well, mostly because it's easier to use and i already mastered it (the basics and the complex systems).

RPGM2, i'm still learning it.Might take some time before i could really take a liking to it.

RPGM1.I don't have my PS1 anymore.Already sold it.And i've played it once when i was 6.So confused since i was still a cute little girl >___>

Yeah, PS1 games are playable on PS2s so long as you don't own one of those early-model PS2s that wind up getting DREs on PS1 games.

*cartoon-style rockets into air with fork stuck in ass*

...

Anyway, I hear at the Pav that the PS3 doesn't play PS1 or 2 games with same quality as the PS1 or 2. I don't know if that's still an issue... but I'll found out soon. For some reason, a PS3 is floating in the town I work in... and no one has noticed it yet. If it stays that way till friday, I'm hooked up.

But even with a PS3, I'm still going to keep my PS2 in working order. Just in case the video issue still exsists... and I don't feel like trying to figure out the virtual memory cards yet.

They also said you can't use memory card switching with the ps3 for rpg maker, look what happened.

That's very true... but:

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/IoCD9TwLrVs"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/IoCD9TwLrVs" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

I'd much rather prefer you were correct, though.

Heh, Lantis beat me to it.

Interestingly, this was how I found a video that showed a memory-card swapping feature using the PS3's home menu. We didn't know that feature existed beforehand, so we only assumed that the PS1 cards could only be "inserted" before the game was boot up.

Assumed, earlier it was said they have confirmed.

http://www.rpgmmag.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3090

Those bugs will be fixed with ps3 firmware updates, too bad not too many have fully exploited the ps3 yet unlike the psp.

I'm thinking that the virtual memory cards will work alot like the .GME files on the EPSXE.

As long as you have the data that the RM game is looking for already in one of the two virual slots... then you should be good to go.

(This is one of the reasons, I made the first scenario small enough to fit on my sprite card... so the game can be started on just 2 memory cards)
