I mostly use RPG Maker XP, but I also own RPG Maker 3 for the PS2, though from what I understand RPG Maker 2 has many redeeming values.

Should this be in the other section? Oh well.

I recommend none. Nuff said. But here i go.

Rpgm2- good. good stuff. Imagine hometown buffet.

Rpgm3- reeks of awfulness like a grandma's jock strap.

Rpgm1- get it. it is good.

I voted for 1 because really it's the only one I play... I own 2 and used to own 3 but 3 got sold because I didn't like it.

2 is also very hard to fully understand, but you can do pretty much anything with it.

but RPG Maker 1 is very good...

Sorry Duelpro, I wasn't sure what section to post this in. I thought that the Chat section seemed kind of like a potpourri of topics, so I went with it.

Never played 2, 3, nor XP, but 1 is pretty good.

I voted 1. It has a decent mix of power and ease of use. There are a few annoying limitations such as lack of variables and the inability to move more than one unique character at the same time, but it's by far the one I have the most fun with.

RPGM2 is pretty good too. Very powerful. But it takes so long to learn how to create games with it, and it takes longer to create a game than in any of the other RPGMs.

RPGM3, no. It's the most limited RPGM on the market, and I find it more difficult than RPGM1. Mostly because of the field map editor. Way too much trial and error for my tastes. And its limits are annoying, such as only being able to have 100 people in your entire game, and you have to use tricks in order to get a wizard to hold a sword and stuff like that.

If you are good at codeing and dont mind chibbi SD Characters, get RPGM2
If you want to make a passable old school RPG and don't know where to start, get RPGM1
If You want to make a nice looking 3D PS1 quality RPG get RPGM 3.
If you want to make the next Lunar, Earthbound, or Chrono Trigger, get RPGM XP.

Heh, the results of the poll amuse me.

I pretty much agree with everyone else. RM1 over all the others.

Haha, 100% for us RPGM1 fans. For now O.o

Staffy, you're making me feel bad for not owning a Windows XP.

3 if your new and want something simple yet somewhat capable (and can work with limitations)

2 if you have a lot of time and patience and don't learning some new stuff.

1 if you want a mixture of 3 and 2. Although it doesn't look as good as 3, it looks better than 2, and it's more capable than 3, while not as capable as 2.

If you have Windows XP, and you want something like 1 only better, get XP. It is VERY capable, and the graphics are really nice. Best of all three, imo, but slightly under-used.

slightly underused?

If it wasn't for Sonic... there would be dang near zero RMXP usage.

Well, rmxp.net is sorta handling the majority of RMXP use.

BTW, is anybody else trying to click the numbers in this topic's description thinking that it'll lead to a nonexisting page 2 or 3? :P

RPG Maker 2 FTW.

Yeah you may never finish a game on it, but it will be the best game ever you never finish :P. Seriously though, if you want something not futuristic or medieval, 2 is the way to go. Just be prepared for lots of reading and a long learning curve.

I mostly have played RPGM3. I have not touched RPGM1. And I played the game that comes with RPGM2.

I like RPGM3 because its easy to use. I own all 3.
And from what I been hearing most people think 2 is the best. Because you can make sprites and stuff.

No, RPGM1 is the one with sprites. RPGM2 has the VFX editor.
