This question has been buging me for awhile. I have my self a 512 MB USB jump drive, and I was wondering if that is all I realy need to share produced RPGM 2 games on here. I ask because i keep noticing that The Action replay max is basicaly just a usb jumpdrive, and if that is that case there must be some special programing OTHER than just being a jump drive that warrents it support here. If this is infact the case, is there some way that i could *ahem* aquire said program at little or no cost to me?

But If that is not the case CAN I REALY USE MY JUMPDRIVE AS IS!?

Have you tried it? As long as it lets you put saves on a flash drive, and the saves are of the .max file extention, I assume that it'll work.

Unfortunately I don't believe you can just use the USB drive as you need the Max Drive PS2 disc so you can access their memory manager to transfer your saves to the USB drive. As is I'm pretty sure the PS2 has no such capability, as I don't believe it comes with a driver for removable storage, nor will it recognize the windows plug and play one. So you could just get a regular Action Replay, but make sure it comes with the Memory Manager on it which will support a Max Drive. I'm not sure if it does or not.

.MAX is a compressed form of the PS2 save file format and is not the default.

And I don't believe you could 'aquire' the program as you would need to have a disc which the PS2 will recognize as a PS2 disc (though the Action Replay disc is sometimes not recognized). So unless you know how to edit the machine code for the PS2 BIOS to support USB flash drives the PS2 won't recognize your USB drive without the Action Replay Max software disc for the PS2 (or other save transfer disc).

I personally wish there was something like the Dex Drive for PS2, as that was much easier to use, and had a lower chance of corruption. Of course assuming you can get data off the HD for the PS3 to a computer, the save transfer device for the PS3 will function the same way (though not sure if you can take a PS2 card off the PS3 hard drive and put it on a PS2 memory card, it might just work one way).

Valk posted a topic about that. Short answer: no, you can't.

Yes, it is so completely gay it has come all the way back around to being straight again.

I actuly got some pictures off my PS2 from GT4 with my Girlfriends jumpdrive so I know you can get things off of the sytem like that, however, i should note that GT4 had the programing built in to reccognize the ports. Again, should also mention that I'm using a slim line PS2, and SONY may have (GASP! I know!) actualy upgraded the compatibility BIOS for the newer release.

Actually I tested it on a slim line, so unless you have a game that access it or can make a utility disc yourself, no go.
