I am curious; what is it you like about Ness, Fayorei? ... I just wouldn't have thought of that since Earthbound didn't exactly seem to concentrate on things like character development.

I'm gonna have to agree ith Fayorei on that one, Selan from lufia 2 was awesome. And as for Ness, I agree. The game did have character development, you just had to understand what you were doing in order to understand what was going on.

Oh and the real character delopment in Earthbound was [spoiler]yourself because you do play the biggest role in the game[spoiler][/spoiler]

I don't know, Facts. I played through Earthbound a good seven or eight times back in the day and, while after all these years I may not remember everything about it, all I can say about Ness as a character is that he is skilled with a bat, is fairly obese for a pre-teen, and he travels with a girl and two other boys. ... Come on, the kid is no different than Serge or Crono; he never even speaks in the entire game (and I have always wondered why game developers would ever think that a mute main character in RPG's is a good idea)


... I will, however, agree with you and Miss Fayorei that Selan was pretty cool. At first I thought she was a bit too conceited and rather masculine, but then after a while I saw her noble qualities as a mother and stuff ....

And since Selan is up there, why not Maxim? He acted just like Selan, but after getting married and he became a father, he began to change.

Oh, and don't forget the ending guys, with Selan and Maxim... (I won't say anymore.)

Alex from Lunar was a very classic valiant hero-type. Max from Dark Cloud 2 stuck me as wide-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to learn and do anything that was necessary kind of guy. And Crono. Crono is a bit of a phenomenon, because though he didn't say a word in the entire game, anyone that played it could tell you how Crono would react to certain situations. He had personality without speech.

And I hate Mint. Mint from Threads of Fate annoyed the crap out of me. Could they have created a more whiny protagonist? Rue was cool, but man I just wanted to pund into Mint.

Funny you should bring up Threads of Fate... my room mate and I were playing that just last weekend.

And I agree... Rue kick kick her butt any day of the week.

Anyway, I thought pretty much the whole cast of Dragon Quest 8 was pretty bad. I can't say I really like any of them... MAYBE the main character who was quite Crono-esque.

Cecil from FF4 was pretty awesome... Dark Knight, mind you. None of that Paladin sissy stuff.
