What the f*ck is up with academia's boner with research papers? I haven't had a class in about a year where I could walk out without being handed a f*cking research paper.

What is the point? What can you learn in writing a paper that you couldn't learn faster by just reading something or doing it yourself?

I'm convinced that book smart people must continually jack themselves off with the fact that they're so smart and just continue to write hundred-page research papers as masturbatory aids.

All these people do is just write, write, write about sh*t that can be summed up in a page or two, but demand that you write 10, 15, 25 pages on a subject.

And you know what? I bullsh*t all the time on my papers. They don't give a f*ck, I don't give a f*ck. All I do is just make extremely long sentences filled with big words that I don't use on the regular just to pad the damn paper.

f*ck them.

Try writing a 125 page essay, then finding out your teacher died over the weekend you did the essay. :shakefist I wanted to bring him back to life so I could kill him again.

I think the point is to train students to be researchers. Reading papers is necessary because that is how you learn about the state of the art in your field. From there, you can build off what you know and perform your own research, and then you express what you've discovered to the community by writing about it.

It is common knowledge that smart people have 50% more paper cuts on their wangs than people of average intelligence, but my point still stands.

I agree completely... I bullshitted my entire art history paper. 2-3 pages could have done the job... not 5.
