Actually those posts really ticked me off.

Quote:
Did Sony just gank Nintendo's secret weapon? Looks like it.

What? The controller does NOT look like a dildo... so no, they didn't.

Besides, the companies created the tilt sinsitivity on their own. There is no way Sony could have produced a 3 axis controller by now if they started working on it's development as soon as Nintendo released the information that they were going to make it.

Even if they did, they would have to re program ALL current games to support its functionality.

And those who are bashing Sony are just little Nintendo fanboys who are bias. Even IF Sony stole the idea... it is development to further gaming in general. If you have a problem with that, then you really need to get off you high-horse.

I could go on forever on this, but I just don't feel like it. I know that I'm leaning towards Sony more than anything else. But I truly am not bias. I think the Wii will be awesome. I think Twilight Princess with blow my mind. But I am more inclined to the Sony titles such as Devil May Cry 4, Resident Evil 5... ect...

Okay... first off it's $499

Not $600. The $600 unit has all the gay bells and wistles.

You can play EVERY LAST PS3 TITLE on the $499 unit. If you want to spend extra, that's you own problem. But the base unit is only 500 and will do everything you need. (note: there is a diffrence between "need" and "want")

And the Wii is $430 if you want to get 4 controllers. And ppl will, seeing as most (as in like 90%) of the Wii titles are specifically geared towards multi-playing.

So the pricing isn't that big of a diffrence.

Umm.. dildo... gay bells... Umm.. I'm going to leave that one alone. :lol

He saw the "gay one" in a mag. that was mailed to us. I don't think he knows about the cheaper one. I'm going to have to ask him about it. I really want to check out the PS3. Out side of zelda, and that I'm getting for the cube. Theres some more final fanticy's coming out for the PS3 that look good. :)

I'm glad they stuck with the dualshock design. Basing the new one off an excellent previous one.

I agree. The PS1 controller was great.... the PS2 controller was great... the PS3 controller looks like it will be great. You know why? Casue the stopped F-ing with someone once they realize it's good. Ever heard of "Don't fix it, if it isn't broken"?

Now the diffrence from the regular NES to the SNES was an improvment... but the N64 Trident was a little gaudy. And the Gamecube controller just blew. And here's an example:

Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance - Character: Scorpion - Move: Forward, Back, A

Doing that on the Gamecube controller was driving me insane. In the Konquest mode, you have to practise every move independantly. It took me forever to do it 5 times.

Same game, same character, same move... I flawlessly did it in a matter of seconds on the PS2 controller. Since then, I've pretty much lost all hope for the Gamecube controller.

That's incredibly old news, BTW.

Perhaps, but not ALL games support its functionality. Only SOME games are being reprogrammed to use it. And it's entirely possible that they did create the controller in such a timeframe (as it isn't anything really that complex; it was an already-existing technology), both to compete against Nintendo (who was turning heads with their new controller idea) and as an excuse to not include rumble support in their controllers since they'd have to pay a certain company royalties to do so (by saying that they can't include the tilt feature and rumble at the same time, which has been stated as false).

Its only problems were the too-small D-Pad and the shoulder button "clicks" wore off over time.

Well, even if they did totally still the idea... why shouldn't Sony fans be able to use this feature if it's avalible? But there is no proof that they did, in fact, "steal" the idea. If the technology is "already-existing" then Nintendo stole it from someone. If not then no one stole anything. It is technology used by both Sony and Nintendo.

Oh, and the rumble feature sucked anyway... I could care less if they took it out... reguardless of the reason.

And what cons does the PS controller have?

I f*cking hate the gamecube controller. Worst thing EVAR.

I dunno. IMO the design is just plain horrible.

Playstation controllers are perfect. In like, every way.

Yep.

Gamecube controllers are comfy to hold, just like the dualshock.

I can never forgive the z-button on the gamecube controller however. What the cluck....

Final fantasy 11, for the PS2 requires a hard drive to play it. And because the slim line PS2s were released with out a hard drive, people could not play that game at all. There are points to getting an updated system with a hard drive. Although the hard drive is not a necessity for all games, it will be requried for some otherwise it will not be an option for the customer to add it on. Would you buy a ferrari without the alarm, or at least a really good watch dog?

its mostly what you're best used to.

Hey Kitty... both PS3's come with an internal hard drive. The one for the $600 unit is bigger (60 gig), as compared to the 20 gig for the $499. But guess what: No game save is bigger than a few meg.

The extra hard drive space is for people who save music and movies to it... which is rediculously stupid. Computers are here for that reason. But 20 gig for game saves is more than enough for multiple saves on every title that will come out for the console.

I'm kinda dissapointed that the boomerang is out. It gave the new generation's console war a special twist (nun chucks vs boomerangs :D )

nunchucks vs boomerangs? lol

megs eh? So technically I'll be able to buy a lot of games and not worry about save space....nice. Kinda like the xbox. Hope the wii does the same thing.

The only thing I don't like about hard drives is they make systems heavy. I work at a game store where I have to lift those xboxes...What a pain.

Nintendo's not using the same technology, though. Nintendo's controller is using some sort of radar-type thing to keep track of the controller's position in 3D space, while Sony's controller has a gyro inside of it that merely keeps track of how much the controller is tilted. Anyway, it's more a copycat idea than actual stealing. (Sorry if I sound like I'm contradicting myself with that.)

The pressure-sensitive buttons are almost useless.
1ce wrote:

Oh yeah, I forgot about that, actually. The button's kinda unnecessary. Only reason the N64 had the Z button was to make up for the lack of a reachable shoulder button when playing a game that made use of the control stick. Yeah, the GameCube Z button was used, but it would've made more sense to include two Z buttons.

GameCube controller is still comfy to hold, though. I mean I don't have any problems using it.
1ce wrote:

Part of it's the casing. Those things are literally bulletproof. I mean really, somebody shot an Xbox, and the bullet didn't break through the casing.

I don't see how... They work perfectly fine.

One test to do is the D-pad on any GTA game. The harder you press the direction, the farther the character will turn the wheel... and from what I can tell, there are no problems.

Compared to the shoulder buttons on the Xbox and GameCube controllers, though, there isn't much room for analog sensitivity. The buttons go in such a short distance, you push it, boom, you're already at full pressure. I never knew any driving game made use of analog sensitivity in the D-Pad. Heck, I didn't even know the D-Pad had any sensitivity at all, and I always preferred it over the analog stick when driving. I just pushed it.

Yeah, I know the sensitivity works. I had SOCOM II for a while, and found out how you could alter how far you throw a grenade by how hard you press the button. It just bothers me a little how you don't have to push in the button in very far to get full pressure. Nitpicking.
