Does give you that feeling of power of telling someone else they're wrong :). Until they go and edit it that is, then all the new people are like, no he spelled it right.

But yeah I rely on spell check for a lot of my spelling, though I'm normally close enough. Well there are those times ...

*wishes everything was spelled phonetically*

Also, where do you find all these things to quote.

sarcam is a form of humor... o.O
thing is you were barely being sarcastic... it was like half sarcasm and half not which kind of cancel each other out... it wasn't really much of sarcasm at all.. but it was a good try, you know.

where do i get this stuff? Well, all over the place. If you want a decent online encyclopedia of philosophy, theres always Stanford. though i don't think anyone's bothered to edit it for like... the last 5 years :/

http://plato.stanford.edu/

if anyone cares, i could give them a double handful of links to interesting stuff.

doubt anyone is, though XD

Well I can't say I don't care, though it will take me a while to read all of them, as I loathe reading on the computer. But yeah give us some links, I'll look at them at some point. Some probably later today.

Just because we default to programming a lot doesn't mean it's all we care about. And though philosophy usually doesn't land you a job directly, except teacher, it's still important since it's the basis of science and a lot of modern though.

And I guess I fail at sarcasm, o well, probably why I'm literal more often than not.

Actually, got curious about the definition of sarcasm, and irony, and sardonic, as I get them mixed up from time to time, since they're so similar. Turns out sarcasm is not meant to be funny, except in a sadistic humor kind of way.

Merriam Webster Dictionary wrote:
Main Entry: sar·casm
Pronunciation: 'sär-"ka-z&m
Function: noun
Etymology: French or Late Latin; French sarcasme, from Late Latin sarcasmos, from Greek sarkasmos, from sarkazein to tear flesh, bite the lips in rage, sneer, from sark-, sarx flesh; probably akin to Avestan thwar&s- to cut
1 : a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain
2 a : a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual b : the use or language of sarcasm

I guess one can qualify it with light sarcasm, but then that would mean it's only lightly demeaning :). Just interesting to look at what words are supposed to mean, and compare that to thier popular definition.

Hurray for over analysis.

Being ironic can however be funny

Merriam Webster Dictionary wrote:
Main Entry: iro·ny
Pronunciation: 'I-r&-nE also 'I(-&)r-nE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -nies
Etymology: Latin ironia, from Greek eirOnia, from eirOn dissembler
1 : a pretense of ignorance and of willingness to learn from another assumed in order to make the other's false conceptions conspicuous by adroit questioning -- called also Socratic irony
2 a : the use of words to express something other than and especially the opposite of the literal meaning b : a usually humorous or sardonic literary style or form characterized by irony c : an ironic expression or utterance
3 a (1) : incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result (2) : an event or result marked by such incongruity b : incongruity between a situation developed in a drama and the accompanying words or actions that is understood by the audience but not by the characters in the play -- called also dramatic irony, tragic irony

Your words of the day, enjoy.

Still not XHTML 1.0 Strict standard, or XHTML 1.1 standard. So it's only slightly better than center tags.

I think Strict is really tight-assed.

Basically, the only way to make everything standard is by using stylesheets.

That's true for the most part... but that's really the way XHTML works really. It's alot cleaner than HTML... but that's just stating the obvious.

Using a spreadsheet or template is a good way to leanr XTML though. It's how I picked up on it.

Well that is true, but that is what they want everyone to start doing, and I kind of agree that it's a good idea. Makes it a little harder to have forums (though really everything should be done through BBCode anyway <- my opinion), but it also reduces page load times and makes your code have more structure to it, and also brings out the layout and makes it more logical. To me it's much easier to write a style sheet and then give something a class than remembering all the different attributes for a tag and writing those out each time.

Just a mini explination as to why it's not allowed, and why that may not be such a bad thing in the end. Of course it will be a while before XHTML 1.1 becomes the standard everyone uses (read never, since web people don't like to agree on a standard, and there will always be die hard MS supporters like there are die hard Linux/Opensource fans). But really I think it makes more logical sense to either style by id/class/tag type in a style sheet, than to have to edit each individual tags attributes. Of course like I've said in the past, the main problem with HTML is that in the past browsers fixed bad HTML, so then that gave everyone the assumption that their old code was fine when it wasn't. You never see things like that in a programming language like Java or C, they definitly let you know when your code is wrong, and refuse to run it like they should.

So after that rant, I like to be standards compliant (with the highest standard possible for my current project), and in this case I think the standard is justified, though I also realize it takes time to convert existing code to the standard, and is not always top priority over functionality. Also doesn't help that broswers don't comply so the standards *cough*IE*cough* so it doesn't make people see a need to.

Conclusion, web coding is broken in general.

Thanks...

I just realized how trapped it feels to not have your own mode of transportation.

And what sucks worse than anthing?

Image

My significant other is sitting at home doing nothing. She just sits their. Oh and now I have dual monitors which makes it all the worse.

But yeah... I feel computer sick... which is like being home sick... only with the affinity for electronic appliances.... computers, to be specific.

Actually, I'm more worried about my finances more than anything else. This may very well put me into quite a bit of debt.
