Just playing around the chat for a while... I found out that standard IRC commands work with this function. This means the chat is more versitle than normal.

You can find the IP of users, change color of font mutliple times in one string, create and join a new room, even leave a message as you exit a room. These things might seem petty, but it does give more interaction within the chatroom.

I've also found out that trillian users can connect directly to the RPGM chat room without even having to open a web browser.

Port: 6667 or 7000

I'm posting this in hopes of getting more users to get in. It's a great feature to the site along with all the new additions to the site.

And I haven't been home yet to try and connect the chat to Trillian. I'll play around with it when I get back (which depends on when my car gets out of the shop) and will post whatever I find.

Or you could just use the web applet you know, it does work, pretty well actually. Or you could wait a month, I'm sure I can cook up some kind of AJAX thing that is linked to the boards here. It's really just the figuring out which phpBB functions I need that's the hard part.

the web applet takes time to load and stuff... and its fun to see how to do things different ways. so why not?

So sad I rarely use Irc. I don't suppise I might stop by often just once a week in the chat in an unexpected time.

You know? I was thinking of maybe making some custom bots for the chat.

Then I thought of how people would abuse it with crappy IRC bots that do nothing more than annoy people.

...then I thought of a pretty good idea. Seeing as you can create a room, if you have a bot you've made that runs a trivia game or hot potato or whatever. I would say it would be a good idea to make a sub-room just for your own bot and in the main room, just ask people if they would like to play... then give them the room name.

I would say infocing a "no bots in the main room" would be the ideal way of going about this. You can ban bots just as you can users...

I just thought of something. Whenever you make a room, the maker is automatically made moderator. If someone who is a moderator of the main room (RPG_MAKER_MAGAZINE_CHAT) goes into someone else's room, will they be made a moderator?

That's pretty easy to find out, but we need a mod in the chatroom first.

Tip for you all: If you start loading the chat page, suddenly realize that you wanted to go back a few pages, and it comes up with asking for permission to run afterwards, don't click "Cancel". It won't give you another chance to go in there.

Not until one resets the computer, I assume. But I've got stuff running that I don't want to lose, so that's not an option right now for me.

use an IRC client draygone ^_^ or trillian >__> ..

Well...it's always operational now, but people are mostly on in the late PM hours.

I must admit that I was surprised to find that last night there were seven people in there. For our site, that's a pretty big group to be chatting all at once. It was cool.

Ah! I don't know what TheAsianInvasion did. The desk top is still giving me the problem getting into the chat. I guess I will have him do what he did to the lap top, to the desk top. I really want to chat with everyone.
