Firstly, some of you might have figured out how to do this already. If so, sorry but I didn't see it posted anywhere.

Frustrated with the limitations of RM3, I tried several different ways to make my RPG longer. Limitations such as the 100 characters and even Memory can sneak up on you quickly if you want to make a large RPG. Because you can fit up to "3 different RPGs" on one memory card (File A, B, and C), you could make your game continue into the next File. However, there is a problem with that. You can't continue your game where you left off with all of your experience, items, money, etc. Why? The In-Game Save Files from one RPG File won't match another RPG File. This is because they need to have the exact same data as the other. If there is ANY DIFFERENCE between them, In-Game Save Files will only work for the RPG File they were played on. But because of this, there is a little trick.

For the sake of this explanation, say your Memory Card for RM3 looks like this:

FILE A - My RPG Part 1
FILE B - My RPG Part 2
FILE C - EMPTY

-In the Editor, load FILE B.
-Save FILE B to FILE A (BUT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE "FILE A" BACKED UP OR YOU WILL HAVE JUST SAVED OVER IT AND LOST THAT RPG FOREVER!!!!!!)
-"My RPG Part 2" is in FILE A.
-Load FILE A.
-Select Play from the main menu.
-Select Continue.

So what did this just do? All the In-Game Save Files from "FILE A - My RPG Part 1" are now associated with “FILE A – My RPG Part 2.â€

You need to rename this topic to "Multiple File Trick for RPGM3" so people will notice it better. Because this is awesome info! Nice to know this is so much easier than when it was on RPGM2.

I'm going to point this out at the Pav.

that is genius.
is there a way to make a level cap so you can only level up to lvl 15 on
chapter one. making the main character start off at level 15 on chapter 2.
to fill the gap of not having the same weapons on chapter 2 you could have the main charater put in jail at the end of chapter 1. then when you start chapter 2 all you could have is a knife of something, then you could get into the armory and get whatever start weapons you need. then cap chapter 2 at lvl 30 and end it with a party member dying and you going into hiding, al la obi wan kenobi. then at the statrt of chapter 3 you come out of hiding at lvl 30- 31 filling that weapon/lvl gap, and finish
you game with the return of the hero type story. a little older, alot wiser.

i know it's all jumbled, but the baby is crying and i g/g.
just some ideas, thats most likely how i'll like my 3 memory card saves.

um, i have a question about the multiple file trick.

i was wondering, if after you successfully perform the trick, if you're able to create 100 -new- npcs for your continuing game? what about items and everything else?

also, do you have to create an ending in part 1 of your game? and finally, can this be done more than once per game.

Wait, I'm confused, if we want the NPC's we had in part 1 to still be where they were when you go into part 2, then wouldn't that mean you need them in the part 2 save? I hope what I'm asking makes sense. :/

Anything you want to keep from the Part 1 save has to be in the Part 2 save. Which means that if you want the player to be able to backtrack to anywhere in the game, you're pretty much stuck with only having a Part 1.

If you have a Max Drive, you can copy File A to your computer.

Oh, one more question please! Can you do an alternative way to back up the file?Like say i have 3 memo cards. And i have file A in the memo card 1 and file B on the second memo. Can i copy the file A into the third empty memory card if that's possible? To back up the file A?Then save file B over file A in memo card 2?

This sounds like something I should want to do. But for some reason, I don't understand it...
I get the "Load 2nd part in editor, and save it over 1st part"

Anyway, this only works to keep current characters stats levels and equipment, right?

For example, I can save the game in 2 diffeerent files, delete everything I won't need on second file (NPCs, cities, dungeons, events) as long as I keep the last map on first game. Then I can add new stuff?

And another thing... How would I jump to part 2 while playing? That's the part that I think confuses me (my mind is not running properly... I think it's lagging :o )
