Emerald Weapon? That the Weapon near the Gold Saucer or the one you find underwater? I tried my hand at both of those, and I didn't stand a chance.

One other thing, though. I've been playing through the whole game with the battle speed set all the way to high and set to Recommended, so the game didn't pause for me when I searched for magic and items to use and thus the enemy's turn pops up real fast. I probably won't change it just for the battle against Sephiroth, though.

There would be no shame it setting it to wait. At least till you beat it once. I mean, aren't you curious how it all ends?

Oh, I've beaten it before. More than once, even. This is a replay through.

And, it's the first time I've beaten it in a few years. I decided to give Sephiroth one more shot before turning back and tackling a few subquests. Not much in a change of strategy. Just gave Red XIII (my healer) the Ribbon, had Vincent cast Ultima over and over instead of using his limit (his L2 limit isn't interesting, anyway), and saved Cloud's summons for Safer Sephiroth and made use of Dark Flare once he was attacked with it (he has Enemy Skill). And I made a mental note of the small stock of Megalixers I had. Didn't change the battle speed or set it to Wait. Sephiroth wound up destroying the solar system three times with Supernova before I defeated him. Man that attack is so annoying. I think I timed it once, and it came out to nearly two minutes in length. The ending's better than I remember, but the music that plays during the credits is still lacking. Very MIDI-ish compared to FF6's near CD-quality music.

I'll tell you what, though, my heart was pounding the entire battle. Happens with a lot of RPGs with final bosses, more often when they're tough and I haven't beaten them so often that I got used to them. Alas, poor Smithy, I knew thee too well.

I was a late bloomer... that was one of my first RPGs I really got into.

My first RPG, actually. And I might've never played it and gotten so interested in RPGs had my grandpa not gotten it that one Christmas. I probably would've never even wound up here or at the Pav.

Oh, I was searching on the net... there is a symphony called "Play!" that does live preformances of games such as FF7 and what not... I would have killed to be there.
