Anyone play this? Should I get it? Are there sites dedicated to it? Because I've found all three creative games locally:
Fighter Maker 1&2
Magic Pengel

Anyone play these?

Never touched them. If you contact Hell Hunter though, he can give you a ton of info on a really good fighter maker.

I would suggest against Fighter Maker. I got it a while back and I hated it.
If you seriously want to get a FM then you would probably be better off with FM2. As for Magic Pengel, I hear that it is a pretty good game. Don't have any first hand experience with it, though. I also hear that it is a hard game to find.

The pavilion used to host a "Fighter Maker Pavilion," but I'm not sure it's there anymore.

Yeah, it's gone. But the Pavilion does have a section for the non-RPGM Designer Series games.

Mugen is the heaven of all fighter maker games. Not only can you creat your character from the ground up you can make stages, lifebars, screenpacks, etc. Just go to youtube.com and search around for some mugen videos.

magic pengel and the fighter maker series are okay. Magic pengel is more like a pokemon creator than an actual fighter. Fighter maker 1 and 2 have a simple to complex system to create your moves. If you understand the mechanics you can have any move you want. It'll take time to learn but kinda worth it. As for the customization well its on the non creative side. The first fighter maker offers a couple of Models with a few select clothing. You can't create a stage or anything. Fighter maker 2 is a slightly better upgrade of fighter maker. A bit more character models with a few accessories, clothing and a harder engine to make your fighter's moves. You can import your fighter from the original fighter maker. So I think you get the idea of Fighter maker 1 & 2 and magic pengel.

Now mugen is a game engine that allows you to make your own fighting game. That is basically what it is just an engine. You can create any fighter you want except 3d fighters unless you want to convert them into a 2-dimensional sprite. Right now I'm working on a fighter, doing the sprites right now since he's an edit. You'll need special image editing software like photoshop, paintshop pro or you can use paint. You can make the animations, the sounds or just rip them. You also have to code your fighter, there are multiple tutorials out there to help you with that. So don't get frustrated. Making stages is a part of the character creation.

1. get the sprites (edit or just rip)
2. put them into sff format
3. Use code to make your stage

-Syn-, Lantis and I are the only known mugen users here. You can see some of -Syn-'s work here

oh yeah mugen is free and there are alot of good works out there.

It takes as long to create a fighter in Fighter Maker 2 as it does to create a short (and playable) RPG in RPGM2. That was a big turnoff for me. (That, and you were too restricted to human characters. Closest you got to anything non-human was a thong with a tail, and a demon mask.)
