I had to ask...

How come when I post a topic over at Doan's, I only get 1 or 2 replies? On top of that, the people who usually post in the topics already post at the Mag (and you guys are cool).

For the last multitude of months, I've been trying to get the Doan community in on the overall RM community activities. The RPGMM Awards is the biggest example of this to date. I've been trying to post all types of pertinent info for the benefit of the community, and everything gets ignored over there.

For the record, the RPGMM Awards was supposed to be the big chance for some of the best at the game to set the record straight on RM2 stuff. I decided to do a big push of the Awards precisely because of the reaction to my Ten Changed the Game article, which some claimed bias against RM2 (which I don't have. I just wrote the article from my subjective perspective).

I don't believe Doan the Nado, the big guy over there, has responded to ANY of my posts since I got there over a year ago.

All of my attempts to forge a bridge have proved to be futile, and I will beat a seemingly dead horse no further.

So I officially give up.

I resent that statement

But anyways, Doan's has actually been very active especially recently. And just because we don't respond to a topic doesn't mean we haven't read it. I read a lot of topics and things and never respond to them. I got the info they were about, don't really have to add anything, so why to.

For example the last 10 posts were from 7 different people all within today.

Don't let the fact that we don't respond let you down, I've read ALL of your posts. Just haven't had anything to add. And if it really bothers you send Doan a PM. We're all Family there.

Duel, I can see where you're going, but it's not necessary.

And to Nash:

Yes, I'm aware that you all respond to yourselves, but to me, the site seems xenophobic when it comes to things like this.

And while I'm glad you've read my posts (which I could have just posted here and would have garnered the same result), posting over there seems like a waste of time.

I've talked about new issues, the RPGMM Awards, A PRINTED ISSUE, and got one reply. One. I coulda posted all of that on the Mag forums in 2002 and got more responses than that!

If you're putting forth so much effort trying to do something, and you get a response like that, how would you feel?

Moved to Chat.

Hey I honestly don't check the mag that often, and have only when you've posted about new stuff. I've only been checking recently to see when my submissions are going to be taken. Trust me your posts at doans do help and they send me here to check it out, I'm 99% sure that's the same case with other people too. We just don't have a reason to post a reply. We go to the site and mission accomplished right? I don't get why your upset with it. At doan's we'ld rather spend our time posting things to benefit to the community in helping others rather than just posting so you know we've seen your post. Just check the number of views to get an idea of how many see your posts. You'ld be suprised!

I have not looked.

How many of us voted?

I can tell you, speaking only for myself, that when these "cross-board" topics start, I usually pick one board and put most of what I have to say there.

Unless I started it!

Ego...

But I know I responded here, and voted where there were games I played.

I have not played as many games as I wish I had time for, but I feel I did my share.

I apologize on behalf of those who may have wronged you!

Don't give up.

You may have asked this question in the wrong forum!

Try asking this over at Doan's.

You may get more support than you think.

But then agin... My Brain is made Entirely out of Wood!

Peace.

There's no need for apologies on your part. You're cool.

And I'll post this over there now.

My goal was to get people involved. The Mag gets already gets attention.

Don't you like people to comment on your work? What if you posted shots of your game and all you got for your trouble was a bunch of views? Well, that's all that matters, right?

The head of "Doanthenado.com". It's a community focused primarily on RM2.

I understand the behavior of the people in the other forum, as you have described (because I never really went there). It's understandable that when someone has nothing to say or add, they don't reply.

But for the sake of education, and for the sake of being nice, warm, and good people... you guys at Doan's should show Ix that all his work isn't in vain... even when you have nothing to say. Just consider how much hard work he does, and put yourself in his shoes, would YOU feel good if all you had for your trouble was topic views? I know I wouldn't.

I don't know if anyone from there read this. I just wanted to say that. It's said.

"you guys at Doan's should show Ix that all his work isn't in vain... even when you have nothing to say"

We do that by coming here and supporting what he posts about at doans. I wouldn't be on this board if it wasn't for Ix coming over and posting things. Many of our members participated in voting, many of our members have contributed to the mag, we also submit for others here too.

I'm sorry Ix if you feel unnoticed or that you've done something in vein, but I'm just telling you that that isn't at all the case. You just have to open your eyes a bit.

Views are not the same as comments. It's not "Whee, 40 people have seen this!" It's "40 people have seen this, but none of them replied. I guess they don't find it interesting enough."

hah, having read that ^ i didnt want not to post.

thing is, though, i agree with the prevalent view here. each site has its good and bad members. we are lucky enough to have a lot of interaction between members on different sites, and that isnt likely to do anything but increase over time.

draygone, i'd suggest thats the other reason you sometimes get posts with far more views than replies. people tend to agree with the comments made.

and Ixz, Doan's behaviour has gotta irritate you. the only thing to do with behaviour like that, though, is to rise above it.

Well, Doan and I are hashing this thing out. You can see his response here:

I agree with what Draygone said. And like Regal mentioned, it was irritating the hell out of me. :shakefist

I'm a member here :D - (I like the family atmosphere here), at agetec (which hardly anyone goes to for RPG Maker 3 info.), and at the Pavilionboards (cool place - big crowd, though). I just went over to see Doan's board and read through the conversation between him and Ixzion. I was impressed with both of their responses to each other.
Ixzion, I was worried (when I first saw this thread) that this was going to lead to some inter-forum battle, but that's not the case at all. I liked your responses to Doan. He had some logical things to say, and you did too.
That was quite refreshing.
