CROMWELL, Conn. (July 11) - A cast member on MTV's "The Real World" was arraigned on a misdemeanor assault charge after police said she bit her boyfriend during a domestic dispute.

Paula Ann Meronek, 25, allegedly bit her boyfriend several times when he refused to let her into their home early Sunday morning, police said.

"I think it was an argument that led to one thing then another," said Cromwell Police Chief Anthony Salvatore. "He attempted to keep her from the house. It got physical and we were contacted."

Meronek, who was arraigned Monday, was charged with third-degree assault, which carries a potential penalty of a year in prison. She is due back in court Aug. 11. No lawyer was listed in court documents.

Her boyfriend, John Alyward, was charged with disorderly conduct. The arrest was first reported by The Middletown Press.

"The Real World," now in its 17th season, puts seven strangers together in an exotic locale - this time in a Key West, Fla., beach house.

George Cabico, a spokesman for the show's producers, said filming is complete and the arrest will not affect the show.

Sincerelly? Why the hell would someone call the POLICE afetr being bitten? If the damage was serious, that's another thing. But hey... just a bite... it's no police case.

Well since there are more disease than back in 1990 it is assault. Its the same as spitting on someone. You don't know if they have any diseases but your life could've been if danger. If you don't believe that well spit in someone's face or bite them and run.

I'm sorry guys, we have different mentalities =P

I guess anyone in the USA would sue.

Here in Brasil the case isn't that much of a big deal. If someone here bites you and you get very pissed off... then the biter's life will get in trouble.

It's kind of a "You don't mess with me, I don't mess with you" agreement.

Just different lines of thinking...

It's mainly because justice (well, kinda) works there.

Here, if you try to sue someone for biting you... I can imagine the scene.

"Sue for... WHAT?!"
"For b-i-t-i-n-g. She bit me. My life was in danger, she could have some disease, you know."
And then the judge would burst out laughing.
Tow hours later the case would be joke in the internet.

Last year, in my state, people were dumb enough to pass a bill that would fine poeple with "undergarments outside their pants" 50 dollars. The senate didn't pass it, fortunately, but for a minute, we were the laughing stock of the nation.

There's a law currently is use. You can stop and arrest anyone suspicious. Meaning they can arrest ixzion for fitting a wanted mans description.
